Show " jpir I '.1 p 1 V Shirl Stone "" - Suzanne Stone EMTs spotlights Pleasant Grove's Emergency Medical Service is spotlighting Shirl and Suzanne Stone this month Shirl "Rocky" Stone has been a longtime resident of Pleasant Grove. He was going to college in Cedar City in 1978 when he began serving as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician. Rocky joined PGEMS in 1984 and has advanced his training to the highest level of training possible pos-sible for an EMT. He is IV certified, trained in first response techniques, and is currently a CPR instructor. At the present time Rocky is a team captain. Rocky has volunteered his time teaching CPR classes to scouts, church groups, civic groups and dentist offices. He has also volunteered volun-teered his time working in the emergency room at American Fork Hospital. One of Rocky's longtime goals has been to become a doctor because he has always enjoyed helping people. Suzanne Madsen Stone has also been a resident of Pleasant Grove for many years. She entered the Mrs. Utah Pageant for two years after starting their family. Suzi has wanted to be an EMT for several years, but put off the training until her children were older. Suzi joined the Pleasant Grove Ambulance Association in September Septem-ber of 1989 as a trainee, but was unable to soueeze the EMT training train-ing course in before Rocky was accepted to chiropractic school. Oil Painting classes will begin on May 3. Those who have not signed up may do so by calling the Senior Citizen Center at 785- 2818. Special even ts during the month will include Don Machan, who will provide a musical program, on May 4 at 11 a.m. On May 15, L. Harward from American Fork Hospital will talk to the seniors about osteoporosis. A spaghetti dinner will be held in Provo in May 18. Papa's Parlor Pickers will provide pro-vide a musical program on May 23 at 11 a.m. Further information on all of these events is available at the center. The center is closed for lunch on Mondays due to cutbacks in the funding program for the remainder of this fiscal year. However, thoso who would like to quilt that day are invited to contact Ruth Hassen-fritz, Hassen-fritz, director of the local center.
