Ele-mentary. - You may aee the little onea out-sida out-sida with the older kida in the behavioral unit and they are having hav-ing a good time. They were aeen recently having alot of fun playing with a large colorful parachute. The children could raiae the parachute and all run under it aa it came downformingatentoverthegroup. They can also hold it up and foam balla all jump about aa they move the parachute up and down. It reaemblea popcorn popping. Brenda Schow overseea the program pro-gram at the achool. A Special Education Edu-cation teacher, Brenda atated the kida all love the program; it ia geared to have a high level of aucceaa. The main focus ia aelf esteem and feeling feel-ing good about oneself and how to succeed. Each child has an individual individ-ual program. They are all different and determined by goals set. Currently there are two transitional transi-tional kindergartens and four preschool pre-school in the district. The number of units is determined by need. Severely handicapped children attend the Peterson School in American Fork. A lot of the kindergarten children chil-dren started achool in the regulnr kindergarten program and often times were intimiduted by the lurj,'; group and did not want to attend achool. The kindergarten program atarted about four years ago and averagee around 1 1 atudenta. The pre-achool program atarted two years ago. It haa been very successful. success-ful. The kids have gained so much in the kindergarten program by attending the pre-achool. The boya ii. the Behavioral Unit love the program. They enjoy helping help-ing with the younger kida. They hid Easter eggs and made Easter bas-keta. bas-keta. They were leprechauns on St. Patrick's Day and answered letters let-ters the children wrote to Santa. Activities with the school, such as music and library help to mainstream main-stream the kids into the school. Using reverse mainstream, the children who attend regular school come into the classroom and get acquainted with the kids. One problem with coming in, they don't want to go back. They love the individualized attention. Parents can call the district if you feel you have a child you expect may be delayed. Lions Club auction May 12 The Pleasant Grove Lions Club will hold an auction on Saturday, May 12, at 10 a.m. in the Downtown Down-town City Park, 200 S. Main in Pleasant Grove. Lions Club members will be asking neighbors and friends to contribute liberally for this good project All residents who can contribute contrib-ute are asked to notify J. D. Henley, Hen-ley, Alan Clegg, Jerry Walker, or any member of the Lions. The proceeds from the auction will be used for civic projects. She married Kenny Jolley and they have three children, Lori, Dirk and Kathy. Pam should become a grandmother any day now. . i wThm Jolleys have made several trips to England and spent the last three summers visiting family back home. That is one of the benefits of her job, earning money for travel. Mrs. Jolley has been working at the school for nine years. She started working at Geneva School where she worked for four years with Dr. Beveridge and she went to Valley View with him when he started as principal. As a secretary, Pam makes monthly reports and basically answers an-swers the telephone. She takes care of the parents and things seem to come up every day.
