They art the aona of AUn and Elaina Betrant They are membera of Troop 835 in the Pleasant Grove 14th Ward. For thair Eagle project, they each organized and helped build a sec-tion sec-tion of the Great Western Trail which will eventually go from Mexico to Canada. In scouting, they each have earned the On My Honor Award the Pony Expreaa Award, and Russell haa earned the 50-Miler Award. Jeff ia a aer.ior at Pleasant Ci ove High School where he is on the soccer team and ballroom dance team. He also enjoys golfing, skiing, table tennis and debate. He has held many church callings and is currently serving as first assistant in the Priest Quorum. Chris is in the ninth grade at Pleasant Grove Jr. High. He enjoys Students fight drug abuse in school, city Kim Seeley, Craig Veenker and Janice Garrett are members of the Youth Leadership Against Drugs campaign at Pleasant Grove High School. With the committee made up of senior students, these young people are spreading the word about drug awareness, throughout the entire community, as well as the school. Kim, a three-year member of the Governor's Youth Council for Drugfree Youth, recently received the Youth Service Award, sponsored spon-sored by United Way. She was one of five young people in the county who was honored at a special ceremony held at BYU on Feb. 28. She was selected for this honor because of her volunteer work in fighting drug and alcohol abuse in her school and in Alpine School District. Kim has also been working with the high school's Project Team work (a drugfree program), of which she is an active member. As a peer-counselor at Charter Canyon Hospital, Kim, is able to stand strong in the war against drugs. ' For almost three years she has been speaking to several schools i andxcamunitaeSjchallenging others oth-ers tenstand up against drugs and to stand up for themselves. H.K. Pang has announced his democratic candidacy to the House of Representatives for District 59 which includes Pleasant Grove District 4, Lindon and northeast side neighborhoods of Orem. Pang was a native of Oahu, Hawaii. He has resided in many western states until his attendance at BYU. Since then he has resided in the city of Orem for the past 18 years. .. ' " ' Pang has worked on several central Utah water and highway projects as an operating engineer. "I plan to get out and walk the districts to learn of the people's concerns and how we can together make necessary changes for the good of all."
