Ours was "special". Everything was special - as in "you are so special," and "this mint brownie is special." This generation would never, never use the word special but everything now is amazing. As in - "you are so amazing," and "this mint brownie is amazing." See how it works? We can communicate between the generations easily if we just substitute the word special with amazing. So, this special book is amazing. "Left To Tell" by Immaculee Ilibagiza is the true story of a young woman who survived the Rwandan holocaust. Within With-in 90 days almost a million mil-lion members of her Tutsi tribe were slaughtered by the Hutus. She survived by hiding with seven other starving women in a tiny bathroom during a bloody genocide. What makes Immacu-lee's Immacu-lee's story amazing is that despite her personal terrible ter-rible suffering, which included in-cluded the brutal murder of most of her family, she is able to teach us all about forgiveness, love and prayer'. She endured but did not become bitter. Her faith is an example that inspires us to forgive those that have done so much less to us, yet we hold petty grudges. Vesta Josephine Frost Boyer Vesta Josephine Frost Boyer was born March 17, 1910 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and died August 11, 2007 in Spanish Fork, Utah. Her parents were Peter Pe-ter Frost and Rebecca Jor-gensen Jor-gensen Frost. Vesta grew up in Salt Lake City, Oakley, then Bluffdale and Riverton, Utah. She married Edward H. Boyer on November 15, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Springville, UT and were the parents of 12 children: Rae Ann Collier (Robert), Milan Frost, Marlin Edward Ed-ward (Pauline), Jorgen Jar-rett Jar-rett (Carolyn), LeGrande (Nancy), Josephine Anthony, An-thony, Leeta Gilbert (R. Dan), Peter Koyote-Kern (Karen), Valerie Gukeisen (Darwin), Seth Peter (An-gie), (An-gie), Wanda June Boyer, and Creed Herbert; plus one foster daughter, Dorothy Doro-thy Upshaw. Vesta was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; Ed-ward; her son, Creed; her son-in-law, Joseph Anthony; Antho-ny; and a great-grandchild, Emily Jones. Vesta had a strong testimony tes-timony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she served in Primary, Pri-mary, Relief Society and Young Women and was president of each at different differ-ent times in her life. With Edward she was a Temple Worker at the Provo LDS Temple and served missions mis-sions in North Carolina and David William Bower 1957-2007 David William Bower passed away in Springville, Utah, on August 4, 2007. He was raised in Twenty-nine Twenty-nine Palms California. David served in the navy as a medic. He was a trucker, truck-er, radio operator, network engineer, ultra-light flight instructor an entrepreneur optomist and visionary. He is survived by his if Julie Pierce utmms, Is. Vesta Josephine Frost Boyer at the Swiss LDS Temple. She was also active in the community with Edward in the Utah County and State Farm Bureau which she represented on the Utah State Nutrition Council. The Boyers also enjoyed hosting dancers each summer sum-mer for the Springville International World Folk-fest. Folk-fest. Vesta is survived by 11 of her children, 51 grandchildren, grand-children, 128 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and a wonderful won-derful extended family. Gratitude is extended to the staff at Hearthstone Manor and at Spanish Fork NursingRehab for their kind service to Vesta. Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 18, at at 1 p.m. in the Springville West Stake Center, 996 W. Center, with viewing at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 South, Springville, on Friday, Aug. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the stake center from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the services Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. Blake Hansen Gammell passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007 from causes incident to old age. He was born July 6, 1924 to William Wil-liam Ray and Carrie Elizabeth Eliza-beth Hansen Gammell in Bingham Canyon, Utah. He married Louise Clyde in the Logan LDS Temple on July 1, 1946. The last two years since her death he has greatly missed her. After completing high school at Bingham High, he went on to the University Univer-sity of Utah where he completed com-pleted his pre-md requirements, require-ments, and then to the University Uni-versity of Southern California Califor-nia where he received his "Doctorate of Dental Science" Sci-ence" degree. Deciding he wanted to raise his family in Utah, he started practicing practic-ing dentistry in Springville and did so for 39 years. He loved Arabian horses and until three years ago was involved in breeding, breed-ing, showing and taking care of them. He attended horseshows throughout the United States and Canada, winning many national awards. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his friends and family. His second self-taught profession was that of a "builder'' starting 52 years ago with a home for himself him-self and then moving on to a home for his parents, his children and also a dental office and cabin. He is survived by his son, B. Clyde (Gayle) Gammell of Mapleton, UT; a daughh ter, Mary Louise (Don) Winkler of Sandy, UT; a son, Ray (Lori) Gammell of Mapleton; a son, John Scott Gammell of Sandy, UT; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, siblings: sib-lings: Erma June Welling and Geraldeen Doman. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a son, Bill; and sister, Lola Jeane. The family wishes to thank all the caregivers from Hospice Specialists who have so lovingly and patiently taken care of him the last two and a half years especially Brigitte Simmons. And a special thanks to Janet Neel for her love and kindness as "our angel" over the last 18 years.
