Show I Thursday, May 25, 2006 SPRINGVILLE HERALD 17 :' v. i .-an""'" f v ' Obituaries Alta Davis Nelson Alta Davis Nelson, age 94, of Springville, Utah, passed away peacefully Friday, May 19, 2006 at Art City Nursing Care Center, due to her age. She was born to Jesse Car-lyle Car-lyle Davis and Sara Jane England Davis at Union, Oregon, Ore-gon, on Dec. 5, 1911, the fourth of four children. She married Wray C. Nelson on Feb. 16, 1929, in Preston, Idaho. Ida-ho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple April 6, 1932. Wray passed away Nov. 7, 1978, due to a heart attack. Alta grew up in Payson and Logan, where she met and married Wray. She enjoyed en-joyed camping with her family fam-ily and other activities. She did a lot of crocheting, and was very good at it. She crocheted each of her children chil-dren a beautiful afghan and also many doilies. She crocheted cro-cheted all of her grandchildren grandchil-dren afghans and quilts. She handmade many quilts and was a beautiful quilter. She enjoyed doing genealogy and later she began working in the German Extraction program. She loved this work and was able to do it for 10 years but was unable to continue because of her health. She kept books for their family business (Nelson Furnace Fur-nace Co.) which she and Wray owned and operated for many years. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where Nursing and their staff for she served in many callings the good care they gave her throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, hus-band, Wray; two daughters: Louise Nelson and LaRae Nelson Stallings; one brother, broth-er, Glen Davis; two sisters, Vivian Averett and Fern Bowen; two grandchildren, Michael Nielson and Kelly Stallings. She is survived by a son, LaVar (Ellen) Nelson, and one daughter, Sherel (Gordon) (Gor-don) Nielson. She leaves behind be-hind 13 beloved grandchildren, grandchil-dren, 42 great-grandchildren and several great-greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, Theora Nelson, Wanda and Val Zahler, Ron Johnson, Emma Jean Nelson, and Deone & Kennth Nelson. Services were held Monday, Mon-day, May 22, in the Hobble Creek West Stake Center in Springville. Burial was in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. Ceme-tery.
