Another cultural experience experi-ence she had was taking a Thai cooking class and finding out how they prepared pre-pared food. Thai food is the yummiest food she has ever tasted, with a kicky and "spicy burning sensation." When asked how she prepared pre-pared for this big trip, Nicole said, I took a Thai 101 language class at BYU, met Thai people and learned about their culture and the different foods they eat." One of the things that happened to her this past year in Thailand was that during a visit to a hill tribe, she witnessed a traditional funeral. The casket was open, revealing an un-pre-served corpse, and several women danced exotically for the last rites. . "It was an interesting experience, ex-perience, we were fed by the host of people there, and we were invited into their huts," said Nicole. During her trip to Thailand, Thai-land, she took a three-week excursion through Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Singa-pore, and Cambodia; "It was the time of my life." The many experiences Nicole has had allow her to share her new-found knowledge and influence with the American world in a positive way, and teach others about an obscure country. John Van Wagoner SHS STAFF WRITER - . Right now the Red Devils are the last team that anyone in Region 7 wants to see or play. The Devils have raced to a tie on top of the Region 7 standings. The funny thing is that the devils were picked to finish 3rd, behind Provo and Payson. The devils took that with a chip on their shoulders and have beaten Provo by one, and absolutely destroyed Payson last Friday (SHS beat Payson one time earlier in the season as well). The Devils Dev-ils are 4-1 in region play, with the lone loss coming against rival Timpview High. The scores for those games, in order, or-der, are Payson the Devils won 9-6; vs. Provo the Devils won 6-5; vs. Timpview the Devils lost 12-11; Lehi the Devils won 4-3; and vs. Payson the Devils won 164. The Red Devil offense was considered one of the question ques-tion marks coming into the season, and they have absolutely ab-solutely shut up those critics. So far in 5 region games, the Devils have pounded out 47 runs. Leading this barrage on opponent pitching has been Danny Mecham with two home runs and Mark Averett who batted 9-10 last week. The Devils also proved that they have power throughout the lineup with homers coming com-ing from Riley Allred, Adam Gray, Steve Nelson, Alec Clements, ' and Danny Mecham. This week could be a turn-" ing point in the season for the Red Devils because they play three critical games: Provo at Provo on Tuesday, Or em at home on Wednesday Wednes-day (this could be the most important game of Region because Orem is currently tied for 1st with the Devils), and at Timpview on Friday where they could avenge their lone region loss. The Devils have also cracked the Top 5 in the Valley Rankings with their awesome play. Please come and support the Devils as they shoot for a region title and eventually, hopefully, a state title. Senior Adam Gray says, "What we need to improve on is that we always jump on teams early, and we get comfortable com-fortable with the lead we have so we need to close out games better. We play to the level of our competition. It really helps us if everybody comes to the games to support sup-port us."
