Show SPRINGVILLE HERALD Thursday, April 20, 2006 Editorial Llf3 Spj Editor: His name is Jim Barker; he is the Animal Control Officer for Springville City, and he is the Town Hero. This letter is to commend Jim and the Springville Police Department for the manner in which he does his job. Jim has made two trips to our home in West Springville and numerous trips to our daughter's daugh-ter's home in East Springville. All of these trips mille 'S 'Town Hew ? Middle School r says, inanKs! ; to all who help have been concerning problems prob-lems with raccoons. In every case, Jim has displayed dis-played a genuine concern for our problems and a willing and caring attitude to do everything he could possibly do to correct them. He tries hard to do his job well, and that, in our estimation, estima-tion, makes him a valuable employee for our city. We are sure if these problems went uncorrected they would be a bigger problem evervone in the future. - We appreciate the job you are doing Jim, we also, sus-Dect sus-Dect that others in Sorinevillp feel the same way. Allen and Cathy Pace Springville - Citizen expresses appreciation for kindness Editor: Springville resident Frank Headman would like to express ex-press appreciation for the tremendous support following follow-ing a house fire December 6, 2005. Frank and his wife, Clea, recently moved back into their rebuilt home on the east side of town. Headman says the outpouring of kindness kind-ness has been overwhelming. Letters are welcome on any topic. Headmans were asleep. A neighbor (whom Frank calls his "guardian angel") saw the smoke, ran to the home, and banged on the door until they woke up. Thanks to this man, they were able to get out unharmed. The house, however, was destroyed. The Headman home was the first one built by Mike Klauck Construction sixteen years ago. The day after the fire, Klauck asked Headman if he could rebuild it even better bet-ter than the first time. Mike and his wife, Julie, also helped the couple by loaning one of their cars after af-ter both of the Headmans' cars were destroyed in the fire another act of kindness sincerely appreciated by the Headmans. Frank also wants to extend his gratitude to Springville Fire Chief Phiul Whitney, the volunteer firemen, and police who responded to the fire on that freezing December night. Frank says he and his wife are grateful for the charitable acts of family, neighbors, friends, ward members and scouts who have helped the couple in a variety of ways. Frank says this experience has strengthened his belief in the basic goodness abounding abound-ing in the people of this community. com-munity. Mapleton council Continued from page 1 : The city annoouncedd that it will purchase a Case 621D loader for $78,000. The council also approved moving forward on the building build-ing of a new public works fa-; cifity which includes having plans drawn up. The city will also work with BFI on a new agreement for garbage collection in the city. The old agreement is about to expire in the near future. It was also pointed that BFI and Waste Management have merged. ; The council was informed that the council chamber in' the old city building is cov ered with about $500,000 fire', insurance and will be repair ed-and ed-and brought back to stan-" dards as part of the fire de-' partment. "- Mapleton Police report Mapleton Police had 32 calls last week including seven for animal problems. There was a two-vehicle ac cident at 1555 W. 2600 South, a hit and run accident at 1108 N. 700 East and a hit and run accident at 48 N. 1600 West.
