Tuesday, Feb. 8, the boys' basketball team went to Payson High School; Friday, Feb. 1; they visited Timpview High School; and Friday, Feb. 18, they played a home game against Spanish Fork. Cameron Eagle plays sophomore, junior varsity and varsity, and he said, "We are getting better; we just need to work harder in practice and we'll win the last few games." The sophomore team played a tough game against Payson High School; It was a close call. The sophomore team was also defeated by Timpview High School. On February 18, the sophomore team played a tough game against Spanish Fork, winning by two points. Polish Clean Tires & Rims Shelves Guilts The final score was Springville-52, Spanish Fork-50. Junior varsity stepped up and beat Payson High by six points. The final score was Springville-81, Payson-75. John Van Wagoner plays junior varsity and varsity, and he said, "We are going to finish the season strong, even though we can't make the playoffs. I am excited about the win, and I'm ready to play hard in the next few games." JV Red Devils were also defeated. The junior varsity team faced a challenge during the Spanish Fork game. They gave it their best effort, but they lost by nine points. The final score was Springville-45, Spanish Fork-54. The varsity team played a high scoring game against Payson High. The final score was Springville-73, Payson-100. Payson-100. It was a tough game, but the boys left unscarred and ready to play against Timpview High. The team played a fierce game at Timpview High School; the final score was Springville-44, Timpview-58. The gymnasium was packed to the brim for the game against Spanish Fork. The play was intense, and the varsity var-sity boys won with a final score of Springville-57, Spanish Fork-54. Coach Kitchen, the varsity coach said, "We are disappointed to lose both games. In the Payson game we struggled strug-gled defensively, and in the Timpview game we struggled offensively. I am proud of Mike Crocket; the Payson game was his highest scoring game. He scored 25 points." The Red Devil basketball basket-ball season is coming to a close. The final game was Tuesday when they took on the Provo Bulldogs. The theme "Be A Man" required great creativity cre-ativity and inspired an intense in-tense amount of competition. The week's activities started start-ed off Monday when contestants contes-tants Zac Anderson, Cam Crockett, Alex Erickson, Bridger Frampton, Dan Gardener, Gar-dener, Ryan Lindsley, Andy Mecham, Clay Mills, Tanner Mortimer, Justin Moss, Jon Niu, Ben Priest, Jason Rawle, Mark Tingey and Griffin Walker serenaded Springville High School girls & Americana M- A during lunch. The contest helped students get to know the contestants while they lip-synched to various love songs and blew kisses to the huge turnout. Tuesday's Poster Contest winner was Bridger Frampton Framp-ton who created a life-size paper-mache "real man" out of pictures from magazines. Photoshopped images of different dif-ferent body builders with each contestant's head (Rawle), a five foot tall David (Mortimer), Legolas, Leonardo Leonar-do DiCaprio and The Incredi-bles Incredi-bles (Mills), mirrors (Gardener, (Garden-er, Griffin), tights (Niu), and garbage cans (Moss) were some of the ideas that combined com-bined to make this year's poster contest impressively original Wednesday's Leg Contest was well attended by SHS students who voted while contestants sat behind a cur A NEW PRACTICE TO THE SPRINGVILLE AREA! One pair of legs was half manhalf woman (Tingey), one looked very much like that of Marilyn Mari-lyn Monroe (Gardener), one had a missing leg (Anderson), (Ander-son), and another were on fire surrounded by lights, fire trucks, smoke and spraying water. There were other legs that were dressed to look-like Ninja Turtles (Lindsley), others oth-ers in a fish tank with hundreds hun-dreds of goldfish (Crockett), and two Hawaiian-themed" pairs of legs (Mecham, Niu). Wednesday's winner of the close contest was Alex Erickson Er-ickson who painted his legs brown and attached leaves to look like palm trees growing out of the sand, and then placed a doll in a hammock stretched between the two "trees."
