Batemen, son of Monte and Suzanne Batemen of Mapleton, has been called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Independence, Missouri. He will speak in church on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005 at 9 a.m. in the Mapleton 13th Ward, 970 N. 400 East Mapleton He will enter the MTC March 16. I r - I f J Breanne Ockey, daughter of Laurie Lau-rie and Evan Oakey, received her Young Womanhood Recognition Award January 30, 2005 in the Hobble Creek West Stake Sixth Ward. As part of her accomplishments, accomplish-ments, she was in the movie "Goliath," "Go-liath," and has also learned American Sign Language, performing per-forming in various engagements. L J Catherine Leavy, daughter of Jeff and Deon Leavy of the Hobble Creek West Sixth Ward, received her Young Womanhood Recognition Recogni-tion Award January 30, 2005. Along with many other projects, she participated in the Springville Youth City Council, and created a painting depicting the value of faith. 'If Kristina Ockey, daughter of Laurie Lau-rie and Evan Ockey, received her Young Womanhood Recognition Award January 30, 2005 in the Hobble Creek West Stake, Sixth Ward. For her projects, she learned a number of homemak-ing homemak-ing skills, including making bread and sewing a dress. She was also in the movie production of "Goliath." Bethany Burr, daughter of Brenda and Kevin Burr of the Hobble Creek West Stake Sixth Ward, received re-ceived her Young Womanhood Recognition Award January 30, 2005. For her projects, she was an avid volunteer in the Make-A-wish foundation; she grew a garden gar-den of various floweers, vegetables vegeta-bles and fruits as well as other projects to eam this award. Oops! A jeep plowed into the home of Clay Packard at 675 E. 400 South Monday morning. The driver apparently ap-parently blacked out and ran his jeep up and into thhe house. Mrs. Packard had just left the room before the jeep made its appearance ! A long dispute means both parties are wrong. - Voltaire Youth is when you're allowed al-lowed to stay up late on New Year's Eve. Middle age is when your're forced to. - Bill Vaughn Melissa Esplin, daughter of Gloria and Dan Esplin of the Hobble Creek West Stake Sixth Ward, received re-ceived her Young Womanhood Recognition Award January 30, 2005. Some of her projects included includ-ed a vocal performance in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, as well as contributing as an academic aca-demic tutor. Trust yourself. As part of her projects, she collected hundreds of stuffed animals ani-mals and donated them to Tsunami Tsuna-mi victims. She also became fluent flu-ent in American Sign Language and learned to sign her patriarchal patriar-chal blessing. Church news On Sunday, Feb. 27, guest speaker Donna Martinson will preach at the Springville Community Presbyterian Church. Her sermon title is "Fearful? "Fear-ful? or Faithful?" Sunday School begins at 9:15 a.m., Worship at 10:30 and Fellowship Fellow-ship Hour at 11:30. The church is located at 245 S. 200 East in Springville. Jr. High presents Music Man Students at the Springville Jr. High School will entertain audiences March 9, 10, 11 and 12 when they put on the musical, musi-cal, "The Music Man" by Meredith Wilson. Studdert was a Presidential aid to Presidents Ford, Reagan and George Bush Sr. He told of some of the many duties of the President and how the government govern-ment runs.
