Devils destroy Dons By Chris Tahbaz In the last basketball action of the regular season, the Springville High School Devils destroyed the Spanish Fork Dons, 70-62. The game was fast paced and interesting although the Devils had no apparent difficulty in beating the Dons. Before the game, the senior members of the team were honored with plaques. The parents of each member joined the players on the floor for the presentation. The players were: Dave Holmes, Dave Nemelka, Mike Cronquist, Drew Bigler, Brent Wiscombe, and Jack Reeve. First quarter action started with Spanish Fork making the first basket. From then, both teams scored evenly, and no team got within more than four points of the other. In the last few minutes, the Devils scored six unanswered unan-swered points, pushing themselves ahead with a score of 20-16. The Devils jumped way ahead in the second quarter. Devil Mike Cronquist was outstanding out-standing in the quarter, and the whole team helped in keeping the Dons to a low nine points scored. Excellent strategy was a big part of the Devil drive. An extremely ex-tremely high pressured defense and a four-corner offense gave the Devils ail the help they needed. The second quarter ended with a score of 40-25. Two technical fouls on Springville helped the Dixie effort. The Devils came back towards the end of the quarter with points by Williams, Dave Nemelka, and Jack Reeve. Nemelka started the last quarter by tying the score at 40-40. For most of the quarter, the scoring was even, and with less than three minutes left,, the score was 48-49.
