Show Page Two - The Springville Herald - May 10. 1979 here emtertaimimeinit there Museum Quilt and The Springville Museum of Art will sponsor its annual Quilt and Fiber Show June 1 through July 1 in conjunction con-junction with this year's Art City Days. Over $500 in prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the judges. Judging the event will be Sam Moya, Assistant Professor of Art, Weber State College; Alice Sundquist, member of the National Quilting Association and the National Standards Council of American Kmbroiderers ; and Carmen Jones, Assistant Professor, Southern Utah State College. In conjunction with Art City Days a one-day quilter's technique demonstration will be held Saturday, June 9. There will also be three 15 minute lectures throughout the day by Uta lloth, member of the Ilolladay Quilter's Club ,ind the Atwater Weavers ( iiiild. who will present demonstrations on fabrics, bats, types of quilting and pattern drafting. Roth is originally from Germany and has studied with noted quilter Sandi Fox, and has studied at the Pacific Basin Textile School. A workshop. Resist Dyeing, will be offered Thursday and Friday June 14 and 15. Resist Dyeing on blocks, batik, tie-dye and tritik will be supervised by instructor Dusty Collings, a teacher of batik a'nd tie-dye and an award winning artist. Support your local baseball league, and enjoy an evening of live theatre at its best. readies annual Show Those desiring to enter the quilt and fiber show may submit two pieces which have been completed com-pleted within the last five years and which have not previously been submitted sub-mitted to the Springville show. Quilts and fiber pieces made from kits may not be entered. Although there are no limitations on sizes and designs of work which may be submitted to the show, originality and creativity in the design will be the principal criteria applied by the judges for admission to the show and for awards. Quality of workmanship will be be the other deciding factor. Hand delivered work must lx brought to the museum in large plastic bags. Work shipped to the museum should be packed in a sturdy carton. All quilts must be prepared lor hanging in the following manner: sew live:!'' x2" cloth tabs on the back of the top edge of the quilt just far enough down so they are not visible when hung. The quilt will be stapled to the wall by these tabs. Tuesday. May 22 is the last day on w hich entries may le received at the museum for judging. The museum is open from 10 a.m. .to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays Wed-nesdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursdays through Saturdays. Pierce, director of ticket sales and box officer operations. The Pageant will be presented June 8 through July 13, except Sundays and July 4. Ticket prices will be the same as last season, $5 for center section and $4 for side sections, with two special offers available for Pageant patrons, Pierce said.
