DECA students to compete Twenty-one students from Springville High School will be among 1,200 students from 40 high schools in Utah who will display their talents March 19 at the 16th Annual DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) Leadership Conference at Weber State College, according to Dean Mason, teacher-coordinator. Local students participating par-ticipating are: Fashion Show - Staci Childs, Danell Harmer, Susan Lowe, Joni Robertson, Chris Robbins, Machelle Roylance, Jackie omeath, Kerry Wilson, Chris Miller, Fritz Black and Alan Preston; Petroleum Clark Holley and Jeff Johnston; Finance and Credit - Tove Horton and David Washburn; Wash-burn; Insurance - Ken Howell and Todd Whiting. Others are: Food Distribution Rhonda Korth, Debbie Smith and David Weight; Real Estate Paul Whiting and LaMar Wiscombe; Food Service - Janell Robbins. Dr. Charles Winn, Utah State Board of Education's Distributive Education Specialist, says there will be competition com-petition in 30 different events. Students participating par-ticipating in the various contest have been selected because of outstanding achievement in their local chapters and will compete in areas such as Advertising, Real Estate, Free Enterprise, Fashi Show, General Merchandising, Petroleum, etc. Competition Com-petition for some of the events will take place in local business establishments. establish-ments. Judges for the various contests will include individuals from business, industry and education. Beardall, former Springville resident, was recently elected president and chief operating officer of Anderson Lumber Co. He was formerly vice president and secretary-treasurer. secretary-treasurer. Anderson Lumber Co. has its headquarters in Ogden with a total of 20 retail outlets in Utah and Idaho and a wholesale firm, Pioneer Wholesale Supply Company in Salt Lake City. The firm was found in Logan in 1890. Mr. Beardall is a son of Mrs. Florence Beardall of Springville and the late W. Clyde Beardall. He is married to the former LaRue Whiting of Springville and they have three children. A graduate of Springville High School, Mr. Beardall also graduated from Brigham Young University, is a certified public accountant ac-countant in Utah and California and is active in the Ogden Rotary Club and Ogden Golf and Country Club. He s also treasurer and a member of the executive committee com-mittee of the Greater Ogden Area Chamber of Commerce. Grand Exalted Ruler Bristol was born in New York City. Later his family moved to Peekskill, New York. He attended the parochial and public schools of that city and was graduated at the Peekskill High School. University Ave. the end of his junior year was accepted at the Long Island College of medicine, where he was awarded his Doctorate of Medicine. Following internship at St. Catherine's Hospital in Brooklyn and radiological residency at the Long Island College Hospital he served as Assistant Radiologist at the National Naval Medical Center U. S. Navy Hospital at Bethesda, Maryland. He was also a full-time fellow in Radiology at The John Hopkins University Medical School in Baltimore. His keen interest in lung diseases then took him to Saranac Lake, New York. In 1949 he became Director of the Department Depart-ment of Radiology of Trudeau Sanitorium, and presently is Director of the Department of Radiology of the Trudeau Institute, Inc. at Saranac Lake. His work at these centers led to national recognition. Professional memberships mem-berships held by Dr. Bristol are numerous, including having served as president of at least one of them, and either serving as a special consultant, or a contributing con-tributing member on many occasions. Although busy at his profession. Dr. Bristol found time to serve his community. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Urn mi aft Legion Post No. 447, and is a past president of the Saranac Lake Rotary Club. He served on the Saranac Lake Central School Board of Education for 16 years, 13 of them as president, and also was a member of the board of directors of the New York State School Boards Association. Initiated into the Saranac Lake Elks Lodge No. 1508 on February 22, 1950 he became active in all Lodge activities. From Esquire he progressed through the chairs and became Exalted Ruler for the year 1956-57. He served seven years on the Board of Trustees of Saranac Lake Lodge, and currently he is on the advisory board of the Past Exalted Rulers Association of his Lodge. In recognition of distinguished service to Dr. Leonard E. Bristol 1 i -I 1 Section Two Elkdom and the community, com-munity, the Saranac Lake Lodge voted him an Honorary Life Membership Mem-bership in 1957. His devotion to Elkdom assumed added responsibilities. He is a past president of the New York State Elks Association, chairman of the New York State Scholarship Committee for two years, and currently he is a member of its advisory committee, com-mittee, and a director of New York State Elks Major Projects, Inc. In addition to having been a District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler in 1961 he has served the Grand Lodge on the State Associations Committee, and was its chairman from 1971 through 1973. He was appointed a member of the Lodge Activities Committee of Grand Lodge, and in 1974 was elected to a four-year term on the Board of Grand Trustees. He has just completed a term as its chairman. Dr. Bristol is married to the former Virginia C. Gallagher. They have four sons and three daughters, and five grandchildren. Son Kevin is member of Mid-dletown, Mid-dletown, New York Lodge No. 1079 and son-in-law Donald Oslander is a member of Westbrook, Connecticut Lodge No. 1784.
