Gray, 87, of Lehi, died Wednesday, Wed-nesday, Feb. 7, 1979 at the Utah Valley Hospital. He was born Aug. 9, 1891 in Lehi, a son of William Syles and Phoebe Yates Gray. He married Ethel Mary Roberts on Feb. 25, 1910 and they were later divorced. He then married Leora Sundblom on September 12, 1970. Mr. Gray was a farmer. He was a member of the LDS Church. For 11 years, he had been a Foster Grandfather. Survivors include his wife; five sons and three daughters, Delmar R. Gray, Salt Lake City, Oris R. Gray, Lehi; Joseph R. Gray, Kearns; Chris Gray, Lindon; Vern Gray, Mrs. James (Blance) Cunningham and Mrs. Jay (Bareen) Storrs, all of American Fork; Mrs. John (Lillian) Nielson, Granger, 25 grandchildren, 37 greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; three two stepsons and four step-, daughters, Charles Sundblom, Redlands, Calif.; Mrs. Gordon (lllah) Paul, Salt Lake City; Richard Sundblom and Mrs. Paul (Mildred) Nielson, both of Springville; Carol LeRoy and Mrs. Max (Helen) Ainge, both of Spanish Fork. Funeral was Saturday at noon in the Springville Eighth LDS Ward Chapel. Burial was in Lehi City Cemetery. Hatfield Agnes N. Hatfield Agnes Newman Hatfield, Hat-field, 69, of 1419 N. 1600 W., died Saturday, Feb. 10, 1979 at Utah Valley Hospital following an illness. She was born Nov. 14, 1909 in Eureka to Matt and Johanna Carlsson Newman. She married Howard Hatfield July 25, 1929 in Provo. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died in 1977. She was a member of the LDS Church where she had taught in the Primary. She had formerly for-merly been employed at the State Hospital in Provo for 17 years. Survivors include two sons and five daughters, . Darlene Marsh, Heber City; Mrs. LeNay (Joy) Wilson, Howard "Sonny" Hatfield, Mrs. Robert (Margie) Daley, all of Springville ; Mrs. Dean (Lola) Rigby, American Fork; Mrs. Tony (Frances) Heidt, Provo; Ronald L. Hatfield, Hat-field, Salt Lake City; 27 grandchildren, 18 greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, one brother and one sister, Arvid Newman, LaSal, Utah; and Mrs. Elva Kipling, Long Beach, Calif. Funeral was Wednesday Wed-nesday in the Mapleton Second-Third LDS Ward Chapel. Bishop Milo Barney of the Second Ward officiated. Burial was in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. Brookside students The children in Mrs. Black's and Miss Russell's Second grade classes at Brookside School have been studying "World of Work." unit about the post office and the jobs that are performed there. They have had experiences ex-periences in letter writing, addressing envelopes, en-velopes, telling time and counting money. With "play money" they have earned the children buy stamps and address all of their Valentine mail plus additional ad-ditional letters. As in a regular post, office the class mails, faces, cancels, sorts and delivers all the mail plus learning post office proceedures. About 1500 pieces of mail will be processed through the two second grade post offices at Brookside School this week. V V .if-; ' . -y Edmond Ahart Pabst I Edmond Ahart Pabst, 181, of 1455 S. 400 E Springville, died Wednesday Wed-nesday Feb. 7, 1979 at the Payson Hospital following an illness. He was born June 18, 1897 at Pinkneyyille, 111., the son of Alvin Casper and Josephine Weber Pabst. He married Dora Hall on Aug. 26, 1918 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died in 1973. He married Fern Rhodes Feb. 26, 1976 at Rigby, Ida. Mr. Pabst moved to Jefferson County, Ida., when he was 17 years old and lived there until 1963 when he came to Utah. He had lived in Springville since 1972. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 47 years, retiring in 1963. He was active in the LDS Church and held the office of high priest. He served a mission with his first wife from 1968 until 1970 in the Southwest Indian Mission. Surviving are his wife, three sons and four daughters, Roland O. Pabst, Springville; Mrs. Arnold (Wanda) Mcln-tire, Mcln-tire, Rexburg, Ida., Mrs. Norma Robinson, Idaho Falls, Ida.; Mrs. Gail (Pat) Walker, Rigby, Ida.; Mrs. Robert (Dee) Lederer, Lake Oswego, Oreg.; Bill Pabst, Kearns; Ray Pabst, Price; 37 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild; two brothers and one sister, George raost and Mrs. Clara Goodrich, Rigby, Ida., and Emil Pabst, Azusa, Funeral was Monday in the Eckersell Mortuary Chapel in Rigby. Burial was in the Little Butte Cemetery at Anis, Ida. Kdmond Ahart Pabst Alma H. Hawkins Alma Henry Hawkins, 86, of Blanding, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 1979 following a long illness. He had many relatives from Utah County. He was born March 19, 1892 in Colonial Juarez, Mexico to Alma Mears and Harriet Carlton Hawkins. He married Cora Bloomfield July 19,1 1915 in Ramah, N.M. and they were later divorced.1 Survivors include three daughters and five sons,' David H. Hawkins, DeSoto, Ga.; Charles Hawkins, Cody, Wyo. ; George E. Hawkins, Bossier City, La.; Paul E. Hawkins, Kaysville; Alma Rey Hawkins, Brigham City; Cora Hawkins Smith, Mon-ticello; Mon-ticello; Alice- Brown, Corinne; Mary Ellen Anderson, Minneapolis, Minn.; 47 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters, Earl Hawkins, Provo; Lorenzo Hawkins, Springville; Harriet Petersen, serving an LDS mission; and Ethel Mangum, Riverton. Funeral was Wednesday Wed-nesday at the Sundberg Olpin Mortuary. Burial was in the Orem City Cemetery. Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Lunceford & Family LeRoy Hardy LeRoy Hardy, 88, of 50 Senior Court, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 1979, of causes incident to age. Born July 15, 1890 to Charles Heber and Mellie Ferry Hardy, he married Effie Strong March 27, 1912 in Provo. She died June 14, 1964. He married Florence Fisher Simmons July 6, 1965, She died August 20, 1975. He was educated in Provo City schools and operated a transfer company in Provo until 1940. He made his home in California from 1940 to 1960 while working in the transfer business. He retired in 1960 and returned to Springville. He moved to Orem in 1965 then back to Springville in 1978. He was a member of the Provo Elks Lodge No. 849 and was an Exalted Ruler from 1926-27. Survivors include one son and two daughters, R. Blaine Hardy, Mrs. Stephen (Ruth) Miller, both of Springville; Mrs. J. M. (Naomi) Hogeweide, Denver; three stepchildren, James Simmons, Mrs. E. Dixon (Shirley) Larson, both of Orem; Mrs. Roy (Carma) Clark, Las Vegas; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild, one brother, Orvil Hardy, Salt Lake City. Funeral was Monday at 11 a.m. in the Provo Elks Lodge, 100 S. University Ave., Provo. Mr. Nieto's appointment ap-pointment to the post coincided with stepped-up U. S. negotiations with Mexico for the purchase of petroleum and natural gas.
