Eight residents of Sapporo, Japan, successfully sued for damages when their sunlight was cut off by the erection of an 11 story apartment building. Open letter Reader against zone change To whom it may concern: This is my vote against , rezoning 4th South as it was worded in your poll published in the Springville Herald this week. I wish to state my reasons. I have lived in Springville "all my life" to quote a recent survey. I have seen it grow in some areas and refuse to grow in others. It seems to me that many people wish to keep Springville the bedroom of Provo, I certainly don't. I believe we have enough talent and resources to remain a good city on our own strength. I think the new zoning is necessary but not as worded, it isn't going far enough. My objection to the poll is the wording "... to permit a grocery outlet similar to War-'shaws." War-'shaws." My question is, why should we permit such an outlet to come in now when an old business has requested the zoning to go a little further up the street to let him expand. Why should we support a new business and let our local talent and resources stagnate and get old? I for one would not shop in the new store because their prices are too high (at least the one proposed) but I would and do shop in the proposed expanded business that is owned ? by someone who lives in our area. This business has told us that if he is permitted to expand it will enable him to make his store the "discount" type like several located in Provo and that will save the shoppers money. I can assure you that those who did the recent comparison shopping . between Springville and Provo stores could not have been shopping in a Warshaws store. If there must be expansion and I am sure there must, then allow thold to grow as well as letting in the new. Sincerely, Joe and Darla Benjamin Among 123 merit badges-available badges-available for earned awards by boys who participate in the citizenship training program of the Boy Scouts of America, the "Fishing" merit badge ranked 13th overall in popularity. Significantly, ten of the first thirteen are required or formerly for-merly required badges. Thus only Home Repairs and Canoeing exceeded Fishing in badges sought by boys voluntarily volun-tarily or without a previous history of requirements.
