She is an extremely talented girl and is always willing to share the talents for the school's and others' benefits. Joan's most promising talent is her musical ability. She demonstrated this ability by giving a solo piano recital in December. Besides the piano Joan plays the organ, guitar, banjo, and the violin. She was a member of the Utah Valley Youth Symphony for 3 years. She has been a solo performer in the Young Artist Festival and received a number 1 rating as a member of a string quartet. She participates in the A Cappella Choir, the orchestra and has accompanied many people on assemblies and community programs. Joan gives her support to many of the activities and clubs at Snrineville High. She is a member of the Pep Club where she was elected historian and is copy editor for the yearbook staff. She has participated in manv assemblies and has written two. She belonged to FHA and GAA for two years and this year is a member of the Ball Room Dance Team. Last summer she was chosen to represent SHS as a delegate to Girl's State. Joan is also an active member of the L.D.S. Church. She is the Sunday School organist in the 5th Ward. She has received four individual awards and is a 3-year 3-year seminary graduate. In her spare time, Joan likes to participate and watch outdoor sports, sew and enjoy music. An honor student at SHS, Joan maintains a 3.9 GPA. She plans to go to the BYU next fall as a music major. Retired naval personnel seminar Feb. 19 A seminar designed to provide current information concerning rights and benefits for all retired naval personnel in Utah is scheduled Saturday, Feb. 19, at Ft. Douglas. LCdr. D. J. Liddle, commanding com-manding officer of the U. S. Naval Reserve Center here said the two-hour seminar is open to all Navy and Marine Corps personnel who are retired or members of the Fleet Reserve. LCdr. Liddle said the seminar will cover rights, benefits and privileges available in Utah for retired personnel. He said other questions concerning retirement, plus the latest Navy Department directives on retired personnel will be covered at the meeting, and comments from retired personnel will be solicited. The session is scheduled for 9 a.m. in Building 106, Soldier's Circle, Ft.
