Vandenburg, presiding bishop of the LDS church, will speak in the Kolob and Springville stake conferences con-ferences this Sunday. Funeral services were held Monday for LeRoy D. Tingey, prominent civic and church worker who died Thursday following a short illness. Funeral rites will be held today at Wheeler Mortuary chapel for Marcy Dee Averett, Dr. David Dalton presents viola recital tonight Dr. David Dalton, violist on the BYU faculty, will present a recital this evening, Feb. 17, at 8 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall of the Harris Fine Arts Center. The public is invited; admission is free. A program constructed entirely en-tirely of ensemble numbers has been planned. Dr. Dalton will be assisted in his presentation by faculty colleagues Percy Kalt, Robert Ashby, Duane Jenks, Louise Pratt and Theodore Wight. Marcello's "Sonata in G. Major for Viola and Guitar" will open the program with Duane Jenks assisting. Hindemith's "Duet for Viola and Cello" is next with assistance from cellist Robert Ashby. Faculty artist Percy Kalt will join Dr. Dalton in Martinu's "Three Madrigals for Violin and Viola." Louise Pratt and Theodore Wight will assist in the final number, Debussy's "Sonata for Flute, Viola and Harp." Dr. Dalton notes that string recitals generally feature keyboard accompaniment whereas his recital will not use keyboards. He claims that there is good fortune in being a violist in that most of his performances will feature music relatively unknown to the majority of listeners simply because viola recitals are rare. Dr. Dalton is the violist in the Deseret String Quartet. He completed his doctorate last year at the University of Indiana under the tutelage of renowned violist William Primrose. Since that time, he has collaborated with his mentor in the preparation of the violist's memoirs.
