Show Springville's oldest resident celebrates her 96th birthday Ella Reynolds, Springville's grand old lady, who became the city's oldest resident with the recent passing of Willis K. Johnson, celebrated her 96 birthday birth-day January 20. The occasion was noted at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Bearn-son Bearn-son where a family dinner was held. In attendance at the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Men-denhall, Men-denhall, Mrs. Kent Huntsman of Las Vegas, Nev. ; Dr. and Mrs. Russell Hales and family, Dr. and Mrs. John Mendenhall and family, and Mr. and Mrs. David Mendenhall all of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Ardean Childs of Cedar City and Kyle Bearnson of this city; the host and guest of honor. During the day, other relatives and friends called to wish "Aunt" Ella, as she is affectionately af-fectionately known by her many friends. She is still active and lives in her own home and enjoys taking care of her daily requirements. 'A Lovelier You' presented at club Home Culture Club members were hosted by Mrs. Clair Judd at Sage Inn. Vice President Mrs. Harrison Conover conducted the meeting. Mrs. Eugene Palfreyman read the club collect after which the club made plans concerning the quilt to be sold for the Youth Center. "A Lovelier You" featured the program presented by Mrs. James Webster of Provo. Luncheon was served at the conclusion of the meeting to 22 members and guests, Mrs. Roy Johnson, Mrs. Tom Judd of Spanish Fork and Laurie, a granddaughter of Mrs. Webster. J ft. I $ " "Aunt" Ella Reynolds Companions meet at school for club Companions Club members met last Thursday at the Mapleton School with Beverly Clark acting as hostess for the meeting. Norma Jenkins presented the program titled "Out of the Past" and was assisted by Mrs. Clark and a special guest, Marilyn Robertson. Refreshments were served to the 16 club members and guest at the conclusion of the evening's program. The next club meeting will be held Feb. 3 at the home of Anita Miller. Castleton family leaves for Quito, Ecuador Lloyd Castleton, his wife Nilda and sons Kayle and Clief, have been spending a 2-month leave at home with parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Castleton. They left Jan. 18 for Quito, Ecuador where they will reside for the next two years. For the past two years they have been in Mexico City where Mr. Castleton worked for Bank of America and has now been transferred to his new assignment. While visiting here they spent some time in Sun Valley, Idaho and Vail, Colorado skiing. The family members were all together to celebrate Thanksgiving with the exception of Elaine and her husband. They met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Sundblom. Included were JoAnne and Dick and their four children; Darlene and Boyd Kindred of Fillmore and four children; Loree and Wayne Westcott of Smithfield and four children; Julie and Wayne Hempel of Inglewood, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Castleton and Larry and Lynn of this city. 'Aw- (Pi z Lloyd and Nilda Castleton and two sons, Kayle and Clief, have gone to Ecuador where they will live for the next two years. Aureole Club has 'Bring, Brag1 session Reva Loveridge and Juanita Larabee entertained the Aureole Club with a "Bring and Brag" party at the Loveridge home. President Lucy Johnson welcomed the group and directed the evening's business and also led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mrs. Loveridge read the club collect. Each person in turn shared her "Brag" with the group which proved to be most enlightening as well as entertaining. en-tertaining. Luncheon was served by the hostesses. Russells return from month's trip Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Russell returned home the past week from the Washington, D. C. area where they spent a month visiting their daughter and family, Kathleen and Alan Moorhead and their three children. They viewed the attractions in the nation's capitol several times. They saw the national Christmas tree on the elipse near the White House. Besides the beautifully decorated tree were other smaller ones for each state. The Russells also took a tour of the Arlington Cemetery viewing the Lee Mansion, also the graves of the late President John F. Kennedy and his brother Robert. Mrs. Russell had the opportunity op-portunity of spending time in the main reference room of the National Archives and seeing many original documents and records. Mr. Russell was taken to Baltimore to the large Laurel Race Track where the grandstand grand-stand is all heated and glass enclosed so races are viewed in comfort. He also visited their son, Sherman in New York where he met his brother C. E. Russell from Tooele and together they spent time at the Hudson Bay Fur Co. and witnessed wit-nessed the actual auctioning of their mink pelts. The Russells made the trip both ways by plane.
