Show Page Ten The Springville Herald January 18, 1973 Reorganization, new wards noted at special Springville Stake meet A reorganization of the Springville LDS Stake and the creating of two new wards was carried out at special meetings- Wildlife group enjoys event The annual winter meeting of the Springville Mapleton Wildlife Federation was held Sat., Jan. 13 at the Memorial Hall. It was an enjoyable and informative evening due to the efforts of Carl Curtis, President and Marvin "Mog" Warren, program chairman and all the hard working committeemen and directors. Everyone enjoyed the music of Richard "Dick" Conover and Merrill Christiansen, who performed at the beginning of the program and during the dinner. A special tribute was payed to our good member of longstanding, long-standing, Eugene Ford, of the Springville Fish Hatchery, who is retiring this year. Leo Mason introduced Frank Stranton of Orem, a partner of "Tour West", who showed the film "Anyone for a River Run". This told of the preparation of the river run and showed rafts running the Colorado River from Lee's Ferry through the Grand Canyon to Lake Meade. Speaker of the evening John E. "Bud" Phelps, Director of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, informed the members of what is going on in this department and what is projected for the future. Lavar Ware, regional director of Wildlife Resources was also present. Brent Christensen, Conservation Officer, stowed an last Sunday under the direction of the stake presidency. Carried on this page are pictures of the bishoprics involved, including those of the new wards, the 16th and 17th. Also, above is a chart of the wards listing meeting times and schedules. Complete details of the reorganization remain to be finished by the wards concerned. Ward clerks are not shown in any of the pictures due to the fact that they were either absent at the time the photo was taken or may have yet to be appointed. A delicious elk roast dinner was enjoyed by 250 members, prepared and served by wives of officers and members. Many thanks to all who furnished food and worked to make this such an enjoyable evening.
