FRIED CHEESEBURGERS DELUXE Makes 4 servings Cheese Sauce: 1 tablespoon butter or margarine 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour ' cup milk J2 cup shredded process American cheese Burgers: 1 lb. ground beef J 3 cup quick or old fashioned oats, uncooked 14 cup tomato sauce 1 teaspoon- instant minced onion 1 teaspoon salt Yn teaspoon pepper Batter: 2 eggs, beaten 1 cup fine dry bread crumbs For cheese sauce, melt butter in a small saucepan. Stir in flour until smooth. Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil and simmer sim-mer 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in shredded cheese until melted. Keep warm until ready to serve. For burgers, combine ground beef, oats, tomato sauce, minced onion, salt and pepper. Shape to form 4 patties. Dip patties in beaten eggs; then coat with dry bread crumbs. Dip in eggs and bread crumbs a second time. Fry in hot fat (375F.) about 6 minutes for medium doneness. Drain on paper towels.
