The Now Wasbbasket By Joyce Champion 0 It takes a little of T.L.C. to keep vivid and bright the colors in those marvelous polyester knit garments that are so popular today. The "Tender Loving Care" is a matter of understanding the fabric and applying the most compatible laundering method. The ' homemaker should . realize that polyester knits were designed to be laundered, laun-dered, not dry cleaned. Dry cleaning dulls the colors. The garment should be washed often to prevent soil buildup. My tests indicate that a polyester knit should not be worn more than two days without washing. They readily pick up oily soil, and odors can cling to the fibers. Be extremely careful not to overload the washing machine. ma-chine. No more than five polyester knit garments should be laundered at one time. Five to six minutes of agitation time should be sufficient suf-ficient for normally soiled clothing. The warm water setting should be used. This way there is no chance of shrinkage, and the garments will readily return to their original shapes. To the recommended amount of soap or detergent add one cup of Borateem, a borax-based additive which deodorizes the garments and helps to keep their colors bright A cold water rinse will keep the polyesters from wrinkling. Use a warm setting set-ting in the dryer, and do not allow the garments to stand in the dryer after the cycle is finished, or wrinkling will result Mel Duke-From Duke-From all of us at Duke Jewelry we wish you and yours the best for a Happy New Year Eiptrt clock and wttch repair .
