Walk, Internal Revenue Service Assistant to District Director for Stabilization for Utah. Reesponding to a number of inquiries from Utah merchants, Mr. Walk stated that the retailer must post a sign, minimum of 22 inches by 28 inches, on each floor of his establishment announcing the availability of all base price information. This sign is to be titled "Base Price Information," and state "Information regarding the lawful baseprice for any item sold by the store not posted may be obtained by filling in a base price information in-formation request form available at (specify location) and by handing it to (fill in). You will receive a speedy answer by mail." . The Assistant for Stabilization reminds merchants that they must also prominently post a listing of base prices by January 1, 1972. This list must have either those 40 items in each department depart-ment having the highest sales volume or those items which account for 50 per cent of the total sales, whichever is less. In addition, the base prices of all food products sold must be displayed except those exempt from price control. Retailers are required to answer all requests for base price information by mail within 48 hours. Mr. Walk stated that detailed information on the Economic Stabilization Program is available at the local office of the Internal Revenue Service.
