Smith, patriarch of the church, performing the ceremony. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Dean A. Bird of this city. Mr. Louthan's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Albert Welch of Morgan. The goom is a resident of Salt Lake City where the newlyweds are residing and continuing their education, following their honeymoon in Southern Utah and Mesa Verde, Arizona. Following the marriage ceremony the wedding party was invited to a breakfast hosted by parents of the groom at a Salt Lake City restaurant. Covers were laid for sixteen and lovely table decorations carried out the late fall theme selected by the bride for her reception. A reception honoring the couple was given in the evening following their marriage, by parents of the bride, in the Springville Museum of Art to which friends and relatives were bidden. For the reception the bride was radiant in a floor length gown of white satin appliqued with lace. She carried a bouquet of orange roses surrounding a large gardenia arranged in a crescent shape. She was attended at-tended by her sister Gena Bird as maid of honor, with Ruth Roundy, Maxine Bowles, and Karlena Bond as bridesmaids. They wore identical iden-tical long dresses of gold, ribless corduroy trimmed with pearls. Each carried a large flame mum in rust and gold shades. The bride's mother wore a long dress of light olive green in a double knit fabric. Mother of the groom was dressed in a floor length dress of pale green lace. Each wore a corsage of a pale green vanda orchid. Best man duties were performed per-formed by Jim Shore. Greeting guests were Mr. and Mrs. Garth Bird. Ushers were Benson Bird and Wendell Hatch. At the guest register were Judy and Sherry Strong. Mrs. Max Larsen acted as hostess. In the gift room were Kathy Ivory, Jan Nielson, Stephanie Bird, Barbara Smith, and Kathy Huff. Gift bearers were Marlon Bird and Jimmy Seedorf. Another shower honored the bride-elect' at the home of Ruth Roundy. An open house was held in Morgan Dec. 6 by parents of the groom honoring the newlyweds at the Albert Welch home. Handel's life, music given at Music Club The story of the life and music of George Frederick Handel was featured at the December meeting of the Springville Federated Music Club last Friday when members met at the home of Mrs. Mark Robertson. Assisting hostesses were Mrs. Rich Money and Mrs. Brent Packard. Beautifully decorated for the Christmas season, the Robertson Robert-son home served as a colorful background as Mrs. Dan Bird reviewed the dramatic events in Handel's life. Music from "The Messiah" which Handel took the text from the Bible and wrote the music in 23 days was featured in recordings. recor-dings. Also, Mrs. Bird played a flute solo, "He Shall Feed His Flocks", accompanied by Mrs. Owen Christensen. Her daughter, Christine Bird favored with a piano solo, "Sarabande." Craig and Morgan Schouten entertained with a duet, "0 Holy Night", accompanied by Mrs. Ed Forshee. A tasty lunch was served to fifteen. The January 14 meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Kent Palfreyman. Bird in January Among the early winter brides will be that of Miss Jane Lucille Schmidt, Provo, who will become the bride of Richard Maurice Bird on January 28 in rites to be performed before family members at the First Ward. The marriage will then be solemnized immediately im-mediately following in the Salt Lake Temple. A reception honoring the young couple will be held the evening of the marriage in the First-Twelfth Ward Cutltural Hall. Miss Schmidt is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Marcus Evans, Phoenix, Arizona. She graduated from Camelback High School and attended Phoenix College. She is presently employed at the Mountain Bell Telephone Co. Mr. Bird is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice C. Bird of this city. He is a graduate of the Springville High School and Seminary. He filled a mission for the church in Ireland. Presently he is a senior at the Brigham Young University where he is a member of Pi Sigma Alpha. Upon graduation he plans to attend law school. The bride-elect has chosen as her attendants, Suzanne Roberts, Kathy Rottas, Marian Smoot, Mary Jane Palfreyman, Lianne Pleski, Mary Lou Schaeffer and Sherri Chambers. The couple will make their home in Springville. Brookside faculty at Yule party A delightful Christmas dinner party was held for faculty 'members of the Brookside School and their partners last Wednesday evening with Principal Dr. Ray Clark in charge. Dinner was served buffet style after which members and their partners were entertained with games directed by Mrs. Clarence Schriever. White elephant gifts went to the many winners with each f person receiving a gift The tables were attractively decorated as was the entire kindergarten room. Illustrated talk on Europe given club Regular meeting of' the Pan Passu Club was held recently at the home of Mrs. Omar Hansen with Vera Zobell assisting hostess. Members were welcomed by President Maryn Johnson and the club collect was read by Arlena Lofgren. Mrs. Hansen was in charge of the program and showed slides of her trip to Europe. She pointed out the many places of interest and told some very interesting facts about the people and their traditions. It was a most entertaining evening enjoyed by 16 members and one guest, Mrs. Patricia Hansen. At the conclusion of the club a delicious lunch was served.
