' as 111 ft I J. r I r 4 4 'i f i: f ii 9 a i .E'J Monday rites for Hiel Jensen held at Mapleton Funeral services were held Monday in the Mapleton Third Ward under the direction of Bishop Norman Graves for Niel Jensen, 33, who died July 16, 1971, after a brief illness. Burial was in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. He was born May 27, 1938, in Mapleton, a son of Ruel Whiting and Ethel Otte Jensen. He was a graduate of Springville High School and of Brigham Young University and was doing graduate work at Utah State University. Mr. Jensen was employed by the U. S. Forest Service as a landscape architect. He had received high scholastic honors as the outstanding out-standing student in his department, depart-ment, and national honors for designing local forest recreation sites. Active in the LDS Church, he served a mission to northern California from 1958 to 1960, was an Elder's Quorum president, and had been a Sunday School Teacher. Survivors include his mother, Mapleton ; five brothers and four sisters, R. Alma Jensen, Fremont, California; Mrs. Don (Ruth Anne) Clark, Liberty, Utah Mrs. John (Lou) Finlayson and Richard Jensen, Provo; Marvin 0. Jensen, Moab; Jay E. Jensen, Orem; Mrs. Thomas (Carol) Wilson, Springville; Kathy and David Jensen, Mapleton. Mrs. Hopla died suddenly, July IS, 1971, at her home following a heart attack. at-tack. Burial was in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery, directed by Wheeler Mortuary. Mrs. Hopla was born Aug. 22, 1904, in Springville, a daughter of John Carlos and Ida Wood Strong. She married John Edward Ed-ward Hopla on June 17, 1925, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple He died July 14, 1949. Mrs. Hopla was an elementary school teacher for 30 years. Active in the LDS Church, she served in the presidency of the Primary, and as a teacher in Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society. A native of Mapleton, he was born March 6, 1901, to Silas W. and Lutitia May Fullmer Johnson. He married Laura Arvella Erickson on August 14, 1922, in Sutherland with the marriage later being solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She died in 1958. Active in the LDS Church, he served as ward clerk and superintendent of the Sunday School. He was a High Priest at the time of his death. Mr. Johnson was also active in the Senior Citizens group. Survivors include his widow, Delta; three sons and three daughters, Floyd A. Johnson, Salt Lake City; Don Johnson, Sutherland; Therbn E. Johnson, Moab; Mrs. Dean (La Von) Thalman, Ogden; Mrs. Clayton (Bonnie) Graham, Rio Blanco, Colorado; lSgrandcHldren; two great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, Harold Johnson and Mrs. Paul (Maria) Warren, both of Springville; Mrs. Alta Bonnie, Heber City. Former resident dies on coast A number of Springville relatives rel-atives were in San Francisco to attend the funeral services of Mrs. Frances Dunn, wife of Bill Dunn, former resident of Springville who died July 13, 1971 at her home in San Fransico of a long illness. She is survived by. her husband, four children and her father of Mill Valley.
