Coach Glen Simmons' Sim-mons' Provo high hoop team trampled tram-pled over Sprlngville, 46-23. in the Bulldog gymnasium Friday. Provo took the lead in the opening open-ing minutes of the game, never to be headed. The Bulldogs held a 7-5 margin at the end of the first quarter, and increased the lead to 21-10 at half time. Springv'lle rallied in the third period, outscoring the Bulldogs, 11 to 8. In the final quarter, however, how-ever, the winners started a bombardment bom-bardment on the hoop that increased in-creased their lead to 16 points before be-fore the final gun sounded. The game was rough, with both teams fouling repeatedly. Bud Eggertsen, Provo center, was ejected for excessive fouling, as were Cherrington and Rowland of Springville. Coach Simmons shifted shift-ed Brienholt from guard to center to replace Eggertsen, inserting Bill Mangum at guard. Brienholt and Mangum, combining combin-ing with Merlin Slack, Grant Mad-sen Mad-sen and Rulon Johnson, rounded out a qufnt which Springville could not check. The entire Bulldog team played well, with Brienholt and Madsen doing most of the scoring. Niel-son. Niel-son. with 6 points, was high scorer scor-er for the losers. In a preliminary game, the Provo Pro-vo second team nosed out the Springville seconds--24-22. Wesley Carter and Gordon Mitchell led the Bulldog attack. Thieves Ransack Provo Residence Thieves broke into three Provo homes and were believed to have been frightened away from a fourth Friday night. A small amount of loot was taken from each place entered. The homes of La Von E. Payne. 172 North Third East, Tom Duke. 509. East First South and Charles T. Corbell, 461 South Sixth East, were entered, while their -ownw, were away. Mrs. Ralph Foote. 509 East First South, reported to police that she saw some persons in her back yard, but that they left in a roadster when she turned on house lights. Police investigating the cases were not certain whether the robberies committed at the homes were done by the same persons or not. A small radio, electric clock, clothing, rifles and shotguns were among the articles taken. Mason of 338 South Fourth East street, who was Injured In-jured in a bicycle-auto crash near the Provo city cemetery Thursday, Thurs-day, was reported to bo in a fair condition at the Aird hospital Saturday Sat-urday night. The youth suffered a punctured lung, bad head cuts and bodv bruises when knocked off his bi cycle as he was struck by a car driven by J. W. Nielson of Provo. Nielson was absolved of all blame.
