Clayton are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Marie, to Lewis S. King, formerly of Vermont but now of Provo. The marriage is to take place in the near future, and the young couple plan to reside here. Miss Clayton is a graduate of the Provo high school and seminary. Rebeccas Hold Election Many Attend Shower Mrs. Christie Paddock was selected se-lected noble grand of the Deborah Rebecca lodge, No. 6, of Provo, at a meeting held at the I. O. O. F. hall Friday evening. Mrs. Paddock suceceds Mrs. Eva Baker. S. ward of Ogden Friday evening by Prof. Harrison R. Merrill of Brigham Young university. He showed 65 of his own photographs, by means of an opaque projector, and four reels of movies. Thomas Peterson of the B. Y. U. bureau of visual instruction accompanied him to operate the projector. Meeting Enjoyed A delightful session of Camp No. 1, Daughters of Utah Pioneera, was held at the home of Mrs. Annie S. Graham Thursday afternoon. after-noon. The affair was in the form of a Christmas party honoring members mem-bers and guests over 70 years of age, and the mothers of the members. Thirty-five women were in attendance. Community singing was followed follow-ed by two readings, "Then and Now," and "Mother's Picture," by Mrs. Sadie Adamson; song, "Far Away,' 'Mrs. Olive Facer, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Inez Oakley; two readings, "A Gift For Mother," and "They Were There and So- Was I," Afton Ahlander; 10 commandments com-mandments for living, Mrs. Charlotte Char-lotte Anderson; two solos, "The Holy City," and "Love's Old Sweet Song," Earl Snow, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Lucile Mann; Edgar Ed-gar A. Guest's "Do Not Open Until Christmas," Mrs. Annie S. Graham. Tasty refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Graham, who also presented each guest with a Christmas greeting card; Mrs. Millie Moore, Mrs. Jennie Thomas, Mrs. Dee Alexander and Mrs. Sadie Adamson. Pioneers Are Honor Guests Mrs. Lola H. Pearce was hostess host-ess to members of the Bonneville Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Friday Fri-day afternoon at her home. The program honored the pioneers pio-neers of the camp, but due to illness, ill-ness, only four of the 13 eligible pioneers were able to be present. Beautiful gifts were present to Mrs. Sarah M. Ball, Mrs. Albina Safford, Mjs. Elizabeth Murray and Mrs. Annie Farrer. A splendid program included the following numbers: Three instrumental instru-mental selections, Carl and Keith Hawkins; history, Mrs. W. S. Hawkins; lesson on the "United Order," Mrs. Kathryn Firth. Delicious refreshments were served to 29 members by the following fol-lowing hostesses: Mrs. Pe&rce, Mrs. W. S. Hawkins, Mrs. Nettie Jensen, Mrs. Katie Benson and Mrs. Mary Allen. Bridge-Luncheon For Club Women A well appointed luncheon, followed fol-lowed by bridge, were the diversion diver-sion at the affair attended by Mrs. Sterling Ercanbrack for members of her contract bridge club Friday afternoon at her home. California holly formed an at-tarctive at-tarctive centerpiece for the dining table, and candy canes were given a favors. Mrs. Ernest Halverson won the club prize and Mrs. Dwight Packards, the guest favor. Other guests were: Mrs. Charles De MoLsy. Mrs. Veran Booth, and Mrs. Donzil Brown, and the members mem-bers included Mrs. William R. Green, Mrs. M. W. Merrill, Mrs. J. R. Robinson, Mrs. T. H. Sumner, Mrs. Wyman Berg, Mrs. Ernest Halverson, Mrs. J. C. Hart. Mrs. Fred Dixon. Mrs. Stanley M. Clark, Mrs. George Worthen and Mrs. Lynn Taylor. Colorado Ciub Entertained Mrs. Ethel Smith was hostess to the Colorado club members Friday afternoon. A sumptuous dinner was served to the following members: Mrs. Sarah Davenport, Mrs. May Roberts, Rob-erts, Mrs. Stella Taylor, Mrs. Luella Stephens, Mrs. Lydia Fielding Field-ing and Mrs. Irma Walker. Mrs. Orville Gee was a guest. The afternoon was spent in sewing sew-ing and social chat. Additional Society on Page Five Mrs. W. H. Berry Presents Program Mrs. W. H. Berry gave an interesting inter-esting and informative talk on her trip through the east, at the Nine- teenth Century club meeting held at the home of Mrs. J. J. Winter Friday afternoon. A business meeting preceded the splendid program, which also included a fine reading by Miss Nadine Gleason. Seventeen members mem-bers were present. Missionary Is Honor Guet In compliment to Leon Nielsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Nielsen, who is leaving soon to fulfill ah L. D. S. Mission in California, the Scandinavians of Provo entertained enter-tained at the Second ward Relief society hall Friday evening. A. C. Anderson was in charge and the delightful affair was attended at-tended by 60 guests.
