(Ret) Glade Hacking Calder returned to his Heavenly Father on July 12, 2006 at the Uintah Care Center in Vernal, Utah. He was born in Vernal Sept 9, 1930 to Wallace and May Hacking Calder. He married Phoebe Arlene Parry June 4, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Arlene P. Calder, brother Earl (Afton) Calder of Vernal; Paul (Gerri) Calder of Mapleton; brother-in-law Charles Allred of Vernal; sister-in-law Norma Calder of Salt Lake City; children: Pamela J. (Keith) Warner of American Falls, Idaho; Shanna L. Koran of Vernal; Alan G. (Shari) Calder of Vernal; Patty A. (Brian) Duncan of Bakersfield, Calif.; Wallace J. (Leslie) Calder of Fruit Heights, Utah; Dianne (Joe) Batty of Vernal; David C. (Kristi) Calder of Herriman, Utah; Paula R. (Dave) Sageser of Murray; Rebecca S. (Hans) Wentzel of Sacramento; 28 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Wallace and May Hacking Calder, sister Neva, brother Lloyd H. (Norma) Calder, brother Neldon H. (Hazel) Calder, sister Helen C. (Vernon) Larsen, sister Melba C. Allred. Glade graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor's bach-elor's degree in Industrial Science. He later received his Master degree in continuing education from Livingston University in Selma, Ala. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the British Isles from 1950-1952. He served in the United States Air Force from June 1954 to June 1981 retiring with Gwenna Eaton Bricker 1920 - 2006 Our beloved and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend peacefully returned to her Father in Heaven on July 14, 2006. Gwenna was born March 22, 1920 in Vernal, Utah to Irvin Eaton and Mary Adeline Fuller. She was married to Paul Eugene Bricker on Nov. 18, 1939 in Vernal and then sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple on June 22nd, 1966. Three children were born of this union, one son and two daughters: Danny Eugene (Carolyn) Bricker of Farmington; Diana Richardson of Vernal; and Paula Jean (PJ) Austin of Bountiful. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, one brother and two sisters. Gwenna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked in many organizations within the church. She loved music and singing and even played in a band. She was also an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Gwenna was very avid in her genealogy and was a great cook. She had a contagious laugh and a great sense of humor. Although very Katherine Martin Sadlier Katherine Martin Sadlier returned home to her Heavenly Father and reunited with her children on July 14, 2006. She was born in Vernal on June 5, 1950 to William Lester Martin and Arline Kidd. She was currently living in Roosevelt and passed away there. She enjoyed cooking very much and that is what Lt. Col. (Ret) Glade Hacking Calder the rank of Lt CoL He served as a unit Commander in the Pilot Training Program. He traveled to many places while in the Air Force with his family. fam-ily. He also earned many medals med-als including: The Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. He was an Eagle Scout and was involved in scouting his whole life. He was an avid rock hound and loved to garden. His greatest joy in gardening was sharing the fruits of his labors with friends and family. He and his wife worked as service missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Phoenix, Ariz, on the church farm teaching teach-ing English to the migrant workers. We would like to thank the staff of Uintah Care Center for their loving and devoted care of our father. Services were conducted July 17, 2006, at the Ashley Maeser Chapel at 11 a.m. The viewing was held Sunday July 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and one hour prior to funeral services. Gwenna is survived by her two daughters, daughter-in-law, 9 grandchildren, 21 greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-greatgrandchild and numerous extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at the Bountiful 43rd Ward Chapel, 990 North 100 West Bountiful. Ay v - , -- ,- I f) ' ( P':fi Leda Ellen Denison Bilbey Leda Ellen Denison Bilbey, age 93, of Vernal, died July 15, 2006 at the Uintah Care Center. She was born Sept 27, 1912, the tenth of 12 children of Henry Columbus and Ellen Merrell Denison in Lickin, Texas County, Mo. Shortly after her birth, her family fam-ily moved to Choteau, Mont where her father established a homestead. Her father died when she was 13, then she lived with a series of siblings sib-lings from Spokane, Wash, to Pendleton, Ore. to Fellows, Calif. In Fellows she met and married Charles Newell Bilbey on March 21, 1935. Leda and Charlie moved to Vernal in 1952 where he was employed in the petroleum industry. UHP K-9 dies after being left in vehicle On Sunday, July 16, 2006 the Utah Highway Patrol interdiction interdic-tion team was conducting a special enforcement shift in the Green River, Utah area. Interdiction team troopers troop-ers were staying at a hotel in Green River. UHP K-9 trooper Brad Zeeman arrived at his hotel Sunday afternoon and left his K-9 in the vehicle with the vehicle running and the air conditioner on. This is standard stan-dard procedure for UHP K-9 troopers. A concerned citizen advised hotel management who then advised the K-9 handler that his dog was struggling inside the UHP cruiser. The trooper found Reggie unconscious in the vehicle. Troopers immediately immedi-ately took Reggie and put him into an ice bath to lower his core temperature. Reggie was then taken to a veterinarian in Price, where he later died at approximately 9 p.m. The Utah Highway Patrol is conducting an internal investigation into the incident The UHP has 10 K-9 units. Leda was preceded in death by her husband Charlie, 10 siblings, and grandson Rick. Of her generation, only her younger sister, Ruthe Hoskinson of Salt Lake City survives her. Funeral services will be held at the Thompson-Blackburn Thompson-Blackburn Mortuary on Saturday, July 22, 2006 at 2 p.m. Lutheran Pastor Roger Sterle will officiate. A viewing view-ing will precede the service starting at 11:30 a.m. Songs to be played by Kathleen Burrows will include "In the Garden" and "God Bless America."
