Students competed in a wide variety of creative sporting "events" to test their stamina and skills from foot races to "swimming" "swim-ming" events laying on skateboards skate-boards and using the playground blacktop as an aquatic venue. Lacking an abundance of laurel lau-rel leaves to create headbands for successful efforts, the students stu-dents wore wreaths made of local leaves. Since many children and their families had memorabilia from the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, they were encouraged to wear shirts, hats and other items that had become souvenirs of the Utah Olympics. Brainpower and memory became "events' as Olympics trivia questions challenged the boys and girls. Events were held throughout through-out the week which included a Parade of Nations on the closing day. Great weather helped the students stu-dents enjoy their outdoor events.
