Thai nip in the air these lavt few days is a sure sign that the Great Pumpkin Fcsti al is dra ing near. The sixth annual Festival vk ill be held on Tuesday. CM 30 from 5 8 p.m. in the Jensen Park pavilion on the north side tf Highway 40. just west of the Jensen Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. The festival is a fun and safe way for the entire community to celebrate cele-brate an evening of ghouls and goblins gob-lins among the glowing spectacle of hundreds of carved, painted, dressed and decorated jack-o-lantems and pumpkins. Munch on free cxkies and sip apple cider while viewing familiar story book characters, animals, witches, devils and any number of new and innovative innov-ative ideas in pumpkin carving and decorating A bonfire will warm the air toward (he end of the event. Last year 21 people joined in viewing approximately 200 pumpkins. pump-kins. This year the festival commit tee is hoping to have at least 500 pumpkins on display. Groups and individuals are encouraged to bring in their pumpkin creations to share with the community. All ages and all levels of pumpkin talent are welcome to participate. There is no competition and there are no prizes, just plenty of ghostly fun. In past years there have been group mottos or logos, company names, club or school mascots, cartoon car-toon characters, mov ie or TV animals, ani-mals, characters from favorite musicals and just about anything a Halloween-inspired mind can come up with. Any theme suitable for a family event is acceptable. The Festival is being coordinated by Split Mountain Garden Center, 789-5512. which will furnish entry forms for anyone wishing to show off their spooky spectacles.
