The Utah Ballet Company, one of the most prestigious university ballet bal-let companies in the United States, will be performing in Vernal at the Middle School Auditorium on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. Founded in 1982, the company has flourished in a setting of superb dance education and performance. Under the direction of Attila Ficzere, company members have danced with "enthusiasm, excitement excite-ment and that certain reckless expenditure ex-penditure of self.. ..taking advantage of their youthful energy (Deseret News)." They have successfully performed both classical and contemporary works with "unsurpassed professionalism." profes-sionalism." The Utah Ballet Company is housed at the University of Utah where it shows two performances each year. In addition, the company has toured throughout the Intermountain West sharing and reflecting re-flecting the beauty and uniqueness of Utah. The company has performed per-formed with the Utah Opera Company and at the Utah Arts Festival. Their performance in Vernal is part of the Utah Arts Council's performing per-forming arts tours. The 1998-99 season will continue the vitality for which Utah Ballet has become known. The touring program will present the masterful choreography of William F. Christensen in his classic "Coppelia," supplemented with other oth-er notable works from the Utah Ballet repertoire. BPW joins US chapter Mayor William Kremin Jr., Shauna Williamson, Nina Jane Caldwell and Jean Guy declare October's third week as National Business Women's week. Since 1928, Vernal BPW has joined with BPW USA, and BPW Utah to dramatize dra-matize the contributions of women in industry, government and the professions. Each year the Vernal BPW honors an outstanding Uintah High School senior, awards several local college scholarships, donates recently published pub-lished books to the Ashley Valley High School Library, sponsors local political forums, honors local distinguished dis-tinguished women, sponsors a local garden tour, and participates in other oth-er events as the need arises.
