But this was two different dif-ferent teams at a different time in the season. Despite out-shooting Rowland Hall 1 0-3 in the f irst half, the game went into halftime tied 0-0. 0-0. "We controlled a majority of the first half, but just couldn't get the ball to go in the net," Browning lamented. As has been the ease recently, re-cently, Uintah had several good opportunities op-portunities to score; but couldn't convert. In the second half, Rowland Hall broke the ice with a goal 20 minutes into the stanza. Again the U; :s had seveial good scoring opportunities to even the contest but it must have seemed like they were shooting at a moving goal. Many of ihc team's shots glanced off the pov; or just, sailed past left o:' tight. Manwarring scored on a beautiful header off a crossing pass from Ho--croft for the final 2-1 score. Both clubs had goals called back on offsides. Uintah out-shot Rowland Hall 2-1 2 for the game. Two days later (Friday), the Utes hosted top ranked Park City, and as has been the history of these two rivals, ri-vals, the game was a nail biter right down to the very end of the second overtime period. The Miners drew first blood by scoring with a little over 10 minutes left in the first half. Uintah had several good shots on goal but could not convert and the fust half ended with Park City ahead 1-0. The only goal of the second sec-ond half came when Howcroft again beat the defense down the field and scored after slipping by a charging Miner goalie to even the s-ote at 1-1 and eventually send the gume into overtime. The first 10 minute overtime period peri-od ended with the same score. Both teams threatened, but could not score. About three minutes into the sc:ond overtime period, Park City scored to take a 2-1 lead, one the Utes would not be able to overcome. over-come. The loss Friday was especially damaging because of what it did to the Utes chances for a berth in the stat: tournament. The team needed a lot of help Monday after their victory vic-tory over South Summit left them at 7-" for the season. Which, as it turned out, they got. "The first thing w. had to do was get the win over South .Summilt, and then hope we got help," Browning said. ' Uintah left no doubt early of their intentions. Both Derrick Howcroft and little brother Levi scored for the Utes in the first half as me team took a 2-0 halftime score. Team Howcroft kept up the scoring bar-raj-c in the second half as the broth- ers scored all of the Utes five goals- - two in the first half and three in the second. Derrick finished up with a rare hat trick three goals in one g .me as the team won 5-1. Uintah otibhot South Summitt 29-15. H'iih the victory.
