Jeff is the son of David and DecAnn Devcnish of Richfield and Billy and Offic Hamilton of Fritch, Texas. An open house will be held the day of the wedding from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the home of the groom's parents, 298 West 400 North, Richfield. A reception will be held in Vernal at the Ashley 2nd Ward Chapel, Saturday, Aug. 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The bride k a 1992 graduate of Springvillc High and is currently at Vera Bigelow honored at pioneer museum Vera Bigelow was honored Wednesday evening, Aug. 16, at the Daughters of Utah Pioneer Museum. She was born May 29, 1911 in Naples, to parents Eli and Rhoda Ann Hullinger Lee. Vera had seven brothers and one sister. Her family moved to Lapoint when she was eight years of age and she enjoyed en-joyed helping on the farm and swimming in the canal during her youth. Vera married Raymond Bigelow on April 26, 1930 and together they had seven children. Raymond passed away Oct. 31, 1951, leaving Vera to raise the young family alone. She experienced many problems, prob-lems, but overcame them and raised a successful family. Vera moved to Vernal in 1964 where she was happy hap-py to have modem plumbing in the house, a telephone and other conveniences. conve-niences. She worked in laundromats, laundro-mats, motels, and took in ironing to support herself. Vera stills lives by herself, drives her own car, and does most of her house and yard work. The couple plan to continue their education at UVSC and will make their first home in Springvillc. Vera joined Camp Tokawana June 11, 1967 and has continued to be a faithful member. During the evening of her celebration, celebra-tion, light refreshments were served as Vera's history was read by DcLyle Richards. Her granddaughter, granddaugh-ter, Tanna White, played a piano solo so-lo using the piano in the museum. A men's trio consisting of Norman Haslem, Verdin Goodrich and Craig Caldwell, who were accompanied by Ada Openshaw on the piano and Mr. Caldwell on the guitar, sang several old-time melodies. Mr. Haslem played the harmonica for one number. Vera's daughter, Betty Richman, played an accordion solo. Dorothy Luck, accompanied by Amy Lube, sang a couple of songs in tribute to Vera. Vera has one living brother, Homer Lee, who was present at the celebration. Also present were daughters Twila Cochran, Betty Richman, Helen Chivers, Laura Plumb, and son, Gene Bigelow, along with grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and neighbors. |
