The Trike Run is sponsored by Magic Mountain, an organization that helps families with seriously ill children. Magic Mountain was founded by Garner and his wife, Marcia, in Colorado in 1986. "It started as a Toy Run in Colorado," says Garner. "When we moved to Utah, our organization grew with the needs of the people." "Now we help families with seriously seri-ously ill children with expenses the insurance companies don't acknowledge, ac-knowledge, like gasoline for long distance doctor or hospital visits, groceries, rent, school clothing for the other siblings, or whatever basic needs the family cannot afford." Magic Mountain finds out about families in financial trouble due to medical costs through family members, mem-bers, friends, or neighbors of distressed dis-tressed families. "We don't give out cash. We actually buy their groceries, gro-ceries, gas, or take them shopping," says Gamer. "We've never had anyone any-one complain or try to cheat us, like Utah centennial activities The Utah Centennial Committee has a variety of activities planned for the Centennial Celebration, reported re-ported Uintah County Centennial Committee Chairman, Arden Stewart at Chamber of Commerce meeting Tuesday. On January 3, the day the congress approved Utah Statehood, a celebration will be held in the first capitol of Utah, Filmore. Uintah County plans to celebrate the occasion occa-sion with a parade, including queens and a grand ball on Jan 6 and recognition of centurions. Young Buckaroo becomes seasoned Vicki Feldt Staff Writer Vincent Ingalls will be starting school late this semester, but that does not mean he will not have plenty of homework. Ingalls, son of Sue Bruckner and Bill Ingalls of Vernal, was admitted to Primary Childrens' Medical Center for an expected six-week stay due to an unusual accident durr ing the calf riding event at the Little Buckaroo Rodeo on Aug. 10. Ingalls landed on his back after being be-ing pitched from the calf, when the calf spun around and losing its balance, bal-ance, came down with his back feet on Ingalls' abdomen and rolled off of the young cowboy, lacerating his pancreas. "The doctors won't know if he needs surgery for another two weeks," said Bruckner. "By then his pancreas should be solid enough to sew back up, if it isn't healing on its own." Meanwhile, Ingalls has daily CAT scans, is kept immobile, and is not allowed solid foods for three weeks. "The thing I hate worse about being in the hospital is seeing everyone get to eat and knowing I don't get to," Ingalls said. Ingalls comes from a long line of Little Buckaroo Rodeo participants. His mother and aunt competed when they were young, and his older old-er brother Wcs, 15, has competed as well. to show at the Jurassic Jam Trike Run, Labor Day weekend at you hear about in other places." Bikers have always been involved with kids' issues raising millions of dollars for Muscular Dystrophy and Toys for Tots. Trikes are becoming a family-oriented project and there will be no exception to raising monies for children's charities in this newly developed league. Trikes are becoming more popular as they are more stable and easier to see in traffic. More women, families and retired persons wanting to travel trav-el are becoming trike owners. 'Trikes are far more comfortable on long trips due to better suspension designs," says Garner, who took his wife and two children to Sturgis, S.D. Garner built his latest trike with a Chevy V-6 engine to take his family on trips and outings during nice weather. "It rides smooth and pulls a trailer just fine," says Garner. The Jurassic Jam Trike Run is Magic Mountains' invitation for the public to come out and be involved. It will be held Sept. 14, at the Campground Dina in Vernal. There were 22 trikes in the Jam last year, and more are expected to attend this year with trikes from seven states signed up to participate. One of the events planned is a time capsule which will be sealed and opened at a later determined date. The state of Utah is sponsoring a Centennial Passport program with will encourage visitors and residents resi-dents to visit areas in Utah. Travelers who visit the different county centennial celebrations will be eligible for prizes. Those who visit every counties celebration will be eligible for a $2,000 vacation.
