"We drove to Kansas City because my mom wanted to come with," Chrans said, with both staying at the Marriott Allis Plaza Hotel. Twenty three contestants ranging in age from 3 to 14 participated in the show with their pets. Those pets included 17 dogs, 2 cats, 2 turtles and 2 pygmy goats. The young participants obviously enjoyed their opportunity in the lime light and proudly showed off their animals which included several sever-al dogs doing tricks, cats that were busy watching the dogs, turtles who did not mind who was around and Sambo the goat who really did not want anything to do with the entire affair! After getting checked into their rooms and getting a somewhat fitful nights sleep, the national championships champi-onships began the next morning. "I was amazed when we got to the lanes," Chrans continued, "the building had a miniature , golf course, go-carts and tons of video games, it was gigantic." There were 240 contestants bowling bowl-ing for 24 semi final positions. of old fashioned stage coach at like to thank all the participants, their parents and their pets for coming com-ing out and enjoying the evening. Despite rolling a scratch game of 205, Chrans 12 game total of 2,130 (with a SO handicap figured fig-ured in) fell short of the number 24 placer, whose score totaled 2381. But Chrans didn't seem too bothered both-ered by the results. "The tournament organizers had so many activities and events planned that we didn't have time to ponder our shortcomings, we all just went out and had fun, which is the whole purpose of the tournament tourna-ment in the first place." Activities included trips to the Worlds of Fun Amusement Park, Benjamin Ranch and dances, not to mention miniature golf and go-carts in the lanes themselves. "We all had a great time getting to know each other and talking about our home towns, it was a great experience," Misty stated. But don't get the wrong idea about this young lady. She stated next year's championship is in Denver and she fully intends to return re-turn a more experienced and fo-cussed fo-cussed competitor.
