Mrs. Wallis was born in Provo, Utah, but was raised in rural northeastern north-eastern Arizona. Upon graduation from Snowflake High School, she attended BYU where she pursued a Composite degree in English, art and drama. While there she met and married Jack Wallis of Vernal. With the family reared, Janet turned her interests to helping her husband at the newspaper and to community service.
