Jorgensen, received his Arrow of Light and Faith in God awards during dur-ing Pack meeting Thursday, Aug. -12. He is a member of Troop 246 of the Glines Third Ward, under the leadership of Wendy Thomas. Justin will enter the fifth grade at Discovery Elementary. He collects sports cards and has recently taken up an interest in riding steers. He builds airplane and car models and enjoys fishing, camping and playing football. He will speak in the Tridell Ward Sacrament meeting, Sunday, Aug. 22 at 11:50 a.m. Elder Merkley will enter the Missionary Training Center on Sept. 8. Cody Coombs Coombs earns Eagle rank Cody Coombs, son of Boyce and Karen Coombs of Vernal, received his Eagle Scout award on July 18. He is a member of Troop 264. He chose to paint the propane tank at the AshleyMaeser LDS chapel as his Eagle project. He and his fellow troop members contributed contribut-ed many hours toward this project. He parents say he worked hard to earn his Eagle award before leaving for National Jamboree in Washington, D.C. Having this rank gave him more opportunities to participate par-ticipate in this special camp. Brixey, son of Mike and Kathy Brixey, has been called to serve two years in the San Pablo Philipines Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will speak in the Davis First Ward Sacrament meeting on Sunday, Aug. 22 at 10:50 a.m. and will enter the Missionary Training Center Aug. 25. Episcopalians hold mountain services The three Episcopal Churches of the Uintah Basin, will hold their annual joint service and potluck picnic this Sunday, Aug. 22 at the Whiterocks Canyon Campground, announced Father Glen Gleaves of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Vernal. They will hold a joint Holy Eucharist at the group campsite beginning at 10 a.m. in lieu of masses at the three Basin churches. The people of Holy Spirit, St. Elizabeth's and St. Paul's Churches welcome Basin residents to join them during this service. Garth and Couple called to serve Salt Lake mission Garth and Marita Batty of Vernal have been called to serve a one-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They will serve in the Salt Lake City Family History Mission. Elder and Sister Batty will speak Magleby graduates in mortuary science with honors Kelly Magleby of Richfield graduated grad-uated from the College of Mortuary Science at Cypress College in Los Angeles, Calif. Magleby was honored by his fellow fel-low students by receiving the "Most Outstanding Student of the Year" award and the Roslind Ragsdale award for demonstrating leadership, academics and personality. He was listed on both the Dean's list and President's list.
