The baby weighed 6 lb. and will be named Asher Markham. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Eric Shumway, Tonga and Mr. and Mrs. DeVon McKee. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kitchen, American Fork spent Friday and Saturday in Tridell. Mr. and Mrs. Kerry Goodrich held an open house at their new home Friday Fri-day night. It is located on the Parley Goodrich lot. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Chapman have moved to Tridell from Bartlesville, Okla. with their family. Their daughter Kay K. and baby and her husband Finetole Totui, Fantana, Calif, are visiting the Chapmans. Mr. and Mrs. Kerry Goodrich were in Salt Lake City last Saturday where they attended the Bartschi family reunion. Funeral services were held Tuesday for John Harvey in the Tridell Chapel with burial in the Tridell Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Reid Goodrich are moving to Arco, Idaho this week where Mr. Goodrich has employment there. The families of Michael, Ralph and Douglas McKee have enjoyed a weeks vacation in Yellowstone Park. Newell and Opal McKee, Phoenix, Ariz, visited in Tridell for five days and enjoyed the McKee Family Reunion. Mr. and Mrs. Garth Ross and daughter Robin, Sparks, Nev., Mr. and Mrs. Rod Simms, Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Val Ross, Red Bluff, Calif., visited Saturday and Sunday with Velora Merrell and the DeVon and Lorna Mckees. Elder and Sister Val Ross will enter the MTC in Provo Wednesdy prior to going to the Brisbane, Australia Mission Mis-sion for 18 months. Mr. and Mrs. Bernice Woollard have gone to Oregon to visit friends and to Vancouver to "Expo 86". Their son Kevin Ogden took care of the farm in their absence. Mr. and Mrs. Errol Merkley are the proud parents of a new son born July 24 at the Duchesne County Hospital. The baby weighed 8 lb. 5 oz. and will be named Scott Sanders. Erik Merkley has just returned from Washington, D.C. where he attended an FFA Leadership Conference for a week. While there they met with Senator Gam. Visitors at the Clyde Merkley home this past week were, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Merkley, Hugo, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Glade Merkley, Borger, Texas and John Merkley, Smithfield. Mr. and Mrs. Errol Merkley has spent the past week at Brian Head. Mr. Merkley went there to attend a school workshop. Brent Labrum and August 19 wedding day for Smith and Labrum Mr. and Mrs. David Smith of Richfield announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Christine, to Brent Labrum, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kay Labrum of Vernal. The wedding will take place Aug. 22, 1986 in the Manti LDS Temple. A reception to honor the couple will be held in Provo that evening at 1315 E. 900 S. An open house will be held in Vernal on Aug. 23 at 670 W 300 N. Christine is a graduate of Richfield Naples Fair invites cooks to enter pie contest A sweet slice of competition will be one of the highlights of the Naples "Energize Me Fair" as pie bakers strut their stuff. A pie baking contest promises to be one of the favorite activities ac-tivities of the upcoming event. The contest, co-sponsored by Day's Thriftway, is open to everyone. Those who have wares for the contest are to complete an application form, pay a $5 entry fee for each pie, bake it in a disposable tin and get the pie to Naples Elementary School at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6. Judging will be at 1:30 p.m. that day. There are two categories; fruit pies and other pies but no meringues or cream pies will be accepted. Smith family reunion was held at Remember the Main Park, Saturday Aug. 9 at 5:30. David and Kathy Smith were chairmen. Supper, a business meeting and short program entertained the crowd of 65. All living children of Leo and Anna An-na Smith were in attendance, and many of the grandchildren. Ray's daughter and family came from Denver. Brent is a graduate of Uintah High School and Snow College. He is presently attending the University of Utah and working in the computer dept. He filled an LDS mission to Kobe Japan. Benefit event to be planned for Goldings Ron Williams, singer, composer and entertainer, will perform at Vernal Ver-nal Middle School Saturday, Aug. 23 as a benefit for the family of Randy Golding who recently drown in a Maeser canal. An organization meeting for the benefit will take place at Ashley Valley Medical Center Thursday, Aug, 14 at 7:30 p.m. where friends and acquaintances of Randy and his family will have the opportunity to volunteer their assistance. The Golding family has suffered not only the loss of their son, but are now faced with a large financial burden as well. The Pickups are the parents of three children, Rhea Jean Stoddard, West Valley City; Kenneth D. "Pete" Pickup, Randlett; and Carma Rae Annual barbecue ready at Uintah Care Center "It is our way of saving thanks to the community for their support," stated Linda Noyes, administrator of Uintah Care Center in reference to the center's annual summer barbecue. Everyone in the community is invited in-vited to join the staff and residents of the center in the facilities back yard at 2 p.m. August 16 from noon until 2 p.m. for food and fun. The patients provide part of the entertainment and several members of the community will be performing in an on-going program. Kids will once again be able to search through a pit of sawdust for coins and bob for apples.
