A: Home economists from Whirlpool Whirl-pool Corporation advise boiling one-half cup of lumon juice and cup of water in a four cup measure for two to three minutes for a fresh smelting oven. Q: Does the nutritionul value of foods deteriorate when cooked in a microwave oven? A: Because of shorter cooking time, most foods prepared in a microwave oven will retain more nutrients than when prepared conventionally. Don't I V . li, I i ill arii. i ijw-i in i ft-t.'4.-W -i. Mr. Vernal chosen at A tongue-in-cheek pageant for Mr. Vernal Junior High, 1986 brought down the house in an assembly Friday, Fri-day, May 9. Macho male contestants spoofed the "Miss Everything" pageants that take place around the world by imitating im-itating the things the girls do with hilarious results. The boys baked cakes with some questionable taste in both edibility and themes such as strawberry shorts, a well-filled bikini and a Libya masterpiece, as a preliminary event of the pageant. They had campaign posters hanging hang-ing around the school and had lobbied for support among their fellow students before the final competition. Those included in the parade of candidates were: Marty Combs, Chris Roberts, Brian Carter, Eric Mulville, Quinn Dickson, Mark Caldwell, John Weber, Brian T'eo, Scott Stewart and Bruce Hacking. The not-to-feminine misters were escorted by girls from the school for introductions and then embarked on Attention Persons with Allergies and Asthma David P. The evening gown and interview in-terview portion of the event followed with cornball questions and responses given by the boys who staggered around stage in all manner of female dress. Talent numbers, featuring imitations of stars like Stevie Wonder, Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton; songs like "Tiny Stubbles," "I Want to be a Cowboy" ; a magic act; underwater noise imitations; ballet and rock and roll dancing and a belly whistler brought hoots, whoops and catcalls from the audience. au-dience. An aerobics number involving all the contestants concluded the performance perfor-mance of the heavy footed hopefuls. A team of judges from the junior high picked Brian Carter as 2nd runner-up, Eric Mulville as 1st runner-up and John Weber as the new Mr. Vernal Junior High. Hopefully he will not be representing the school at any community functions, func-tions, riding in any parades or mak-' ing personal appearances in his new position.
