' :s; 1 : , ''.: -it 4) ' ,s& Ken Campbell Quinn Pierce and Mischell Mattinson Mattinson and Pierce to unite in marriage Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mattinson of Vernal are happy to announce the coming marriage of their daughter Mischell to Quinn Pierce, son of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Pierce of Draper, Utah. The couple have chosen to be married mar-ried Friday, Jan. 19 at the Davis Ward Chapel, 3990 South 1500 East at 6 p.m. A reception will follow at the Church at 7 p.m. Mischell and Quinn will be further honored at a reception Feb. 2 at the Draper First Ward, 600 East 12300 South, Draper Utah at 6:30 p.m. The groom to be is employed at C&H Distributing Company. The couple are planning to make their home in Vernal after their marriage. Uintah Senior gets national recognition The United States Achievement Academy, an institution dedicated to the National recognition of outstanding outstan-ding students, has selected Uintah High School Senior, Ken Campbell as a national award winner for outstanding outstan-ding performance and leadership. His picture and a brief history of his high school achievements will appear ap-pear in a nationally distributed yearbook. year-book. Less than ten percent of all students in the country are selected to appear in this publication. Ken is on the Uintah High School honor roll, yearbook staff, football team, wrestling team, Lettermans Club president, member of Utah Civil Air Patrol and recently was honored as the Vernal Elks Student of the Month. He was recommended by Uintah High German teacher, Ray For-sgren, For-sgren, for outstanding achievement with the German language. Ken has applied for a scholarship with the United States Air Force, and will attend Utah State University where he will seek a career as an Air Force officer. Elder Alec Clark Elder Alec Clark called to England An IDS mission call to the England London Mission has been received by Elder Alec Lloyd Clark. He will be serving for two years. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Clark of Vernal. Alec is a 1984 graduate of Uintah High School where he was active in track and golf. He served as vice president of the Future Farmers of America at Uintah High. Elder Clark will enter the Missionary Mis-sionary Training Center Feb. 7. His farewell will be Jan. 27 at 10:45 a.m. at the Vernal 2nd- 4th Ward Chapel, 235 East 600 South. - Elder Phillip Wilson Mississippi mission for Elder Wilson Elder Phillip Wilson, son of Kristen and Lorraine Wilson, has been called by the LDS Church to serve in the Mississippi Jackson Mission. A farewell in his honor will be held Sunday, Jan. 27 at 4:45 at the Glines Chapel, 1500 West Highway 40. Phillip is a 1984 graduate of Uintah High School. He attended four years of Seminary and was also active in football. He will enter the Missionary Training Train-ing Center Feb. 7. They also visited with Orval's brother, Bishop Lorin Merrell and his sister, Carma Stevens. They returned to Jackson Sunday afternoon. Elva Manwaring recently spent three days in Bluebell with her sister, Lucille Winkler. Heber and Vera Harrison spent several days in Phoenix, Ariz., and the forepart of the month where they went to attend the wedding of their grandson, grand-son, David Jones. David is the son of Ray and Dorothy Jones, both former residents of this area. Enroute, Heber and Vera also visited in Kaysville and Bountiful with their sons, Gerald and Val Harrison and their families. Craig and Marjorie Martin became the grandparents of a baby boy born Jan. 13 to Kevin and Robyn Martin. They made a trip during the week to Salt Lake City to see the new boy, and remained with Kevin and Robyn and the baby until Saturday. Other grandparents grand-parents are Bryce and Lois Erickson. Verdin Manwaring and Marilyn Judd of Bellevue, Wash., were visitors at the Elva Manwaring home a few days last week. They also visited with the Phillip Manwarings and the Willis Southams while here. Kay and Brett Baker spent last weekend in Bountiful and Ogden where they visited their sister, Arlyn, and friends in Bountiful. Carol Southam and Teresa Liebhardt and children went to Price, Monday morning where they met Mark and Denna Orrulian and baby daughter. Denna and baby came home with her mother to spend a few days here with her parents and sisters, Connie Con-nie Haslem and Teresa Liebhardt while her husband was on business in the Price area. Eric Manwaring spent Saturay skiing ski-ing at Alta. Ray and Marial Nash spent the first weekend of this year in Salt Lake City Ci-ty with Dale and Beth Nash and family. Bruce Manwaring made a trip to Provo, Saturday, returning that evening. Fern Everett and daughter, Shelly Shel-ly I lowells, and two children of Fruita, Colo., spent two days with Fern's mother, Nellie Richens, last week. Fern and Shelly came to attend the burial sen-ice for Ray II.
