Nelson was tagged out at home plate when the batter failed to hit the ball on a suicide squeeze play. Gary Swim delivered a mighty blow and scampered around the bases. Swim's inside the part homer was taken away from him when the base umpire ruled that Swim had failed to touch second base. Kurt Robb was walked, but the inning ended when Joe LeBeau struck out. Box Elder scored one run in the top of the second inning to tie up the game at i-1. Kendall Reeder singled and scored on a fly ball to right field by Dave Lyons. Anderson was whiffed by Uintah Ute pitcher Mike Robbins for the third out. Brad Richens flew out for the first out in the bottom of the second inning, but Wayne Hansen reached first base on an error when the third base man bobbled the baseball. Hansen was thrown out at second base on a stealing steal-ing attempt and Robbins struck out for the third out. ( Williams got on base on an error, but a perfect throw by Uintah catcher Darin Nelson to Ryan Siddoway nailed nail-ed Williams at second base for the first out. Tyler Stokes singled and Tuft was walked. Stokes moved to third base on a passed ball. Nelson retired Todd Ric- ffiiS, I chards on an outstanding behind-the-plate-catch of a pop fly and Darin Thompson flied out to Swim in center-field center-field for the third out. Runners were stranded on second and third base. A walk placed Uintah Ute Siddoway on first base and he moved to second base on a ground out by Gurr. Box Elder's right fielder turned in a good catch to rob Nelson of a base hit and Swim struck out to end the inning. Box Elder hit the jackpot in the top of the fourth inning as they erupted with five runs for a 6-1 lead over the Uintah Utes. Lorin Widdison reached first base on an error and a walk by Reeder place base runners on first and second. Robbins whiffed Lyons, but Nielson was walked to load up the bases. Williams drilled a shot under shortstop Gurr's glove and knocked in Widdison and Reeder with a 3-1 lead. Anderson came in to run for Nielson and scored on a single by Stokes to put the Bees ahead by three runs at 4-1. Blaine Tuft struck out for the second out, but a triple by Richards drove in Williams and Stokes and increased the Bee advantage to five runs at 6-1. Thompson grounded out for the third out. The Utes kicked up the dust in the bottom of the fourth inning with many base runners, but came up empty handed in the run scoring department. Robb flied out, but LeBeau was walked. walk-ed. LeBeau was forced out at second base, but Richens beat out the throw at first base and was safe at the bag. Hansen struck for a single to move Richens to second base and Robbins was walked to load up the bases. Siddoway Sid-doway popped up and Robbins ran into in-to the fielder and was called out on runner interference. Uintah's Robbins dominated the top of the fifth inning as he got Widdison on a fly ball out and blazed hot pitch-5 pitch-5 ed by Reeder and Lyons for strike outs as the Bees went down one, two, three. Five runs were scored by the Uintah Utes in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the Bee lead to one run at 6-5. An error placed Brian Smuin at first' base and he motored to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Nelson. Swim got on base on an error and Smuin scored the Utes' second run. Robb missed a home run by just inches in-ches and had to settle for a double, which drove in Swim. Sean Sullivan flied out, but Richens came through with a single and knocked in Robb with Uintah's fourth run in the game. Richens took off on the pitch and David Wood drilled a shot down the right field line and Richens scored on a head first dive across home plate to bring the Utes within one at 6-5. Robbins Rob-bins flied out to the end the inning. Nielsen and Williams flied out in the top of the sixth inning, but Stokes ripped rip-ped a Robbins pitch for a single. However, Robbins settled down and retired Tuft on a ground out to first. The Utes' failed to score any runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as Siddoway Sid-doway and Smuin grounded out and Nelson struck out. The Box Elder Bees added one run in the top of the seventh inning to increase in-crease their lead to two runs at 7-5. Richards grounded out and Thompson and Jeff Morgan were walked. Reeeder singled in Thompson with a 7-5 lead and Lyons struck out on a pitch by Richens. Reeder was forced out at second se-cond base for the final out. The Utes were retired one, two, three on strike outs by Swim, Robb and LeBeau to make the final score: Box Elder, 7 and Uintah, 5. Uintah High School will battle Orem High School, Saturday at 12 noon in the Region 7 opener in Vernal. The Utes will battle Mountain View on the road, April 7 and will clash with Union High School in Roosevelt, April 9. Uintah will battle Timpview on the road, April 14 and will host Provo, April 18. Uintah Uin-tah will take on Union in Vernal, April 24 and will battle Duchesne in Duchesne, April 25. The Utes and the Cavemen will clash in American Fork, April 28. Eaton is a 6'1" senior guard from Wasatch High School.
