The Uintah Utes won six exhibition matches in action before the Uintah-Orem Uintah-Orem varsity tussling meet, Thursday in Vernal. Uintah 98 pounder Clark Jones downed Bart Peck, 12 to 7. Jones decked Peck in the first round for a takedown and a 2-0 lead. Jones scored six points in the second round on two escapes, reversal and takedown for an 8-5 lead. Peck scored a takedown, escape and reversal in the second round. Jones scored four points in the third round on a two-point near fall and reversal for a 12-7 win. Peck added a reversal in the final round. Orem gained its first exhibition win when Ted Frederick, 119, pinned Uintah's Uin-tah's Jody Carr with seven seconds left in the first round. Shayne Price pinned pinn-ed Jason Bird of Orem with 37 seconds left in the second round. Price grabbed grabb-ed a 2-0 lead in the first round on a takedown and both tusslers scored reversals in the second round. Duane Powell of Uintah pocketed a win in 126 pound match when he pinned pinn-ed Pete Kowallis of Orem with 53 seconds left in the first round. Powell thumped Kowallis for a takedown and added a two-point near fall for a 4-0 lead in the first round. Gary Harlock of Orem, 138, downed Uintah's Greg Cobbs, 7-4. Harlock leaped out to a 7-1 lead in the first round on a takedown and two near falls. Cobbs turned on his wrestling gas in the third round as he scored three points on a reversal and penalty penal-ty point to lose by only three points. Orem's Sao Alfino, 138, pinned Uintah's Uin-tah's Darin Morrill with 1 : 43 left in the first round. Alfino scored a takedown in the first round. Uintah's Jon Nash gained a quick pin of his own as he pinned Curt Baum of Orem with 1:18 left in the first round for 145 pound win. Nash scored a takedown in the first round. Uintah 155 pounder Kenny Car-mickle Car-mickle jumped out to a 5-0 lead on a takedown and three-point near fall in the first round of his match with Orem's Todd Allen. The match ended when Carmickle pinned Allen with 59 seconds left in the second round. Uin tah 167 pounder Clark Barker pinned Ray Cox of Orem with 45 seconds to go in the first round. Barker gained a takedown in the first round. Baumgarner of Orem pinned Uintah's Nash with 48 seconds left in the first round. Nash's first and second mat-" mat-" ches were separated by two matches.
