& RESTAURANT WISHES YOU THE HAPPIEST OF HOLIDAYS! The gift of peace I have been thinking about the gift that could affect everybody in the world for good, and I have decided that gift is peace. It would be so wonderful if all of a sudden all antagonistic feelings and desires to kill and destroy could disappear from people's hearts. It would be so special if all wars stopped and enemies started talking constructively, putting together efforts to rebuild the destroyed towns and the lives of those affected. It would be marvelous if there was a big reunion of nations where they could create a plan to destroy and dismantle all the nuclear weapons and everybody would agreed to protect and care for our planet Earth, which is the house for the human race. All the different countries could share information, tips and gifts to benefit each other and never again exchange destructive fire. Imagine, if instead of having "Secret Agents," we could have "Secret Angels" that would go out in the world, and in each city and town do good deeds without anyone knowing who or why. And what if those secrets angels could recruit others so more and more would go and enjoy doing good deeds? Imagine a world where peace is instilled in the hearts of men and women who will not do evil because they don't want to destroy the harmony, between them. No one would have the desire to destroy the peace in a person's life, or lowri. On the contrary, they would want to help maintain it. This may sound very idealistic, impossible to got and far away from reality, but what we can do is start with ourselves. We can try lo find peace in our lives, peace within. Then we can take it with us to share with others wherever we go. We could spread peace, becoming peacemakers, being slow lo anger and patient with those who iiren'i. We could share our poinls of view and defend our positions but with a tranquil, pacifistic attitude. We can promote this peace that is so wished for in our world, with our families, our friends, neighbors, and acquaintances. This change of heart could affect a lot of people for good. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, we remember that he was the one who said, "My peace I leave you, my peace I give you." He is called "The Prince of Peace." who also said, "Love your enemies." When I think about the billions of dollars that have been spent throughout history on wars and the millions of lives that have been lost trying to achieve the peace we all want, [ think if only we could live "The Golden Rule," everything would be different. Nowhere in the world would there be torture chambers, prisons or weapons that can destroy whole cities in minutes! Throughout the holidays and with the beginning of the new year I want to wish you peace in your hearts and in your lives, even though your situation may not be ideal, even though your family may be far away, including sons and daughters that you haven't seen in a long time. Don't" lose hope of seeing them or getting together again. To the contrary, when you talk lo them, it gives them faitli and hope. I'm at 513-0900 or al silvia@ bbbsu.org.
