The city government recently put a miniOlympic tower outside the main entrance to the Marsac Building. It celebrates the city's role during 2002, when about 40 percent of the sporting events and much of the festivities were in Park City. At 7:04 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 25, the Police Department received a faxed report that skis were stolen at Park City Mountain Resort. On Friday, Dec. 24 at 5:13 p.m., a report of stolen skis was faxed to the Police Department from Park City Mountain Resort. At 5:55 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 23, the police received a fax reporting a snowboard theft from Park City Mountain Resort. Other incidents reported to the Police Department last week included: On Saturday, Dec. 25, the police were on patrols looking for speeding motorists. Officers pulled over several vehicles in Old Town that night. At 10:29 p.m., an officer gave a warning for speeding to a motorist at the intersection of Park Avenue and 11th Street. Earlier, at 10:01 p.m., police issued a speeding ticket at the intersection of Deer Valley Drive and Main Street. The police arrested a man in Park City at 7:49 p.m. for domestic violence. At 2:12 p.m., the police handled a water leak on the 500 block of Main Street. The police helped with traffic control and the Streets Department was notified of the problem with the water line. The police received a complaint at 12:12 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 24 that two closets were broken into on the 5900 block of Royal Street. The police classified the case as a residential burglary. An officer at 1:32 a.m. was told of several men sleeping with blankets on benches on Swede Alley. An officer found four men, who said they had just arrived from another country and had not yet obtained the proper documents. They said they would have the papers the next day. The officer said it was OK for them to stay at the location for the night. On Thursday, Dec. 23 at 11:44 p.m., the police arrested a man on the 700 block of Deer Valley Drive after a traffic stop. The man had a revoked license after an alcohol offense, the police said. At 9:25 p.m., the police received a complaint from the 2000 block of Prospector Avenue, where two men were seen urinating in- a front yard. A person told them to leave and then one of the men hit the man in his arm, the police were told. The victim followed the suspects' vehicle and called the police. Officers arrested one of the men for simple assault and the other for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the police said. At 12:55 p.m.. a shoplifter was reported on the 1800 block of Park Avenue. The police said the incident involved less than $50 in goods. The police were told that a passenger was harassing a bus driver at 1:47 a.m. on the ^1600 block of Bonanza Drive. The passenger departed without incident, though, the police report. On Wednesday. Dec. 22 at 6:53 p.m., the police received a complaint that a man was soliciting for a time- share business on the 5(X) block of Main Street. An officer arrived but observed no illegal activity. Three missing guns were reported at 4:20 p.m. on Thaynes Canyon Drive. At 10:57 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported on the 18(X) block of Sidewinder Drive. The police said between $50 and $200 in goods was taken. At 12:03 a.m., the police arrested a woman in Park City for domesticviolence. She was taken lo jail. Police arrested a woman for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs at 2:26 a.m. on the 1700 block of Sidewinder Drive. On Tuesday. Dec. 21. the police received a complaint that a door had been kicked in and some items were missing from inside at Fawn Grove. The case is a burglar)', the policeindicated. On Monday, Dec. 20 at 3:51 p.m.. the police received a complaint that1 a backhoe backed into a van on t h e 2900 block of Telemark Drive. At 12:47 p.m. and 12:43 p.m., the police reported that child-abuse cases were under investigation. |
