As a result, most of the DATC's training programs are at capacity. . J Teachers, administrators and board members are pleased with the interest that high school students i are taking in vocational-technical , j training. This item was just one of the ( items discussed by the DATC board I during its Jan. 29 meeting. Other items included: . , DATC Assistant Director Larry Brice reported on the need to upgrade and expand the CNC (Computer Numerical Control) program at the PATC. Kevin " Collier, chairman of the Machine Shop Craft Committee, said, "CNC in manufacturing is a necessity. - Companies rfiust have CNC to be competitive, and students must have this training to be employable in the future. ' ' Dr. Kent Worthington . reported that information on DATC programs has been distributed to all " feeder" high schools for inclusion in high school course catalogs. These catalogs are an important reference re-ference for students and their parents during registration for the 1991-1992 school year. Lee Bowman reported that at present there are 116 individuals serving on the DATC's 18 separate craft committees. |
