Show Sugar plant turns to garbage GARLAND An Idaho couple is proposing to convert the empty U&I Sugar plant into a combustion unit capable of burning residential and industrial waste. Louise and Steve Galloway of Idaho Falls told the Box Elder County Commission that investors could be found to raise the projected pro-jected $2 million cost of the conversion. The project would have four units, each of which would have a capacity to bum 2,000 tons of waste per day through a thermal oxidation oxida-tion system. The unit would consume solid warte while leaving glass, steel and aluminum intact for recycling. |
