Show Lagoon Lane public hearing slated FARMINGTON A public hearing to consider the possibility of closure andor vacating Lagoon Lane will be held in the Farmington City Hall on Wednesday, Wednes-day, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. Last month the question of Lagoon Lane closure was presented at a public hearing before the city planning commission. The recommendation that came from this meeting was that the lane should not be closed, or that an alternate route for automobiles and pedestrians be developed if the lane is closed. This hearing was well attended by representatives from Lagoon Corp. and citizens. Lagoon Corp. owns the middle portion of the lane. Lagoon Lane is a section of old Farmington that has existed since the early days of settlement. People opposing op-posing the closure have sentimental attachments to the lane. They also believe the lane needs to remain open inn case there is an emergency in Farmington that blocks Main Street If the council grants the corporation's request to close the road, Lagoon has agreed to develop two cul-de-sacs to give the homes on the southeast end and the north end of the lane access by automobile and foot. Lagoon claims the closure of the lane is closely tied to its master plan and future expansion of Utah's largest amusement park. |
