Davis County School Foods, C & C Woods, Taco Time, Montgomery Ward, Hardee's and Pizza Hut received Employer of the Year awards. United Way of Davis County, Doug Jardine, Eugene & Sally Dondero and CM. "Chuck" Chris-tensen Chris-tensen received Advocate of the Year awards. Co-individuals of the year were Lori Lynn Brandon and Michael Servoss. Certificates of achievement achieve-ment were received by: Carolyn Lawrence, Robert Peterson, Robert Brennan and Charles Foley. Lakeview Hospital got the PARC director's award and special recognition recog-nition was given to Patricia Martinez. Mar-tinez. Recipients of adult education certificate of completion were Rosalava Ortiz and Roben Rogers. Recipients of high school diploma were: Antoine Thomas, Maughan Dalton, David Kenneth Nelson, Kenneth E. Quigley, Caroline Troop Davis and Darlene Van Leer. By JANIS CARTER FARMINGTON--Sherry Repscher, executive director o the Governor's Committee on Employment of Persons with Disabilities, was the key speaker at the Pioneer Ad' k Rehabilitation Center's 14th annual awards presentation. pre-sentation. PARC'S objective is to help clients become more socially and economically independent and . to train them and help them find employment. PARC has one of the finest rehabilitation programs in the country. Awards help people feel good about what they do and help give them the incentive to do better next time, Repscher told an audience, consisting mainly of handicapped people from PARC. Federal and state legislation is supporting handicapped people with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Women, senior citizens, ethnic groups, etc. have had their rights protected for many years, but handicapped people have not The Disabilities Act will help turn their rights around so they can have the dignity of going through the front door. "We cannot allow discrimination against handicaps any longer," said Repscher. She encouraged the clients to become registered voters so they can help pass the act with no amendments at this time, and to be active in their communities and show others their potential. Employers and their handicapped employees are an important part of a team that is acting as a role model to the world. Repscher commended them both for taking a chance, being be-ing true to themselves and doing what they believe in.
