Show Local businesses cosponsdr women's health golf open By G.B.HART DAVIS COUNTY--A Davis County corporation, in conjunction with other major corporations throughout the state, is cosponsor-ing cosponsor-ing the Utah Women's Health Open golf tournament July 30. Although CIBA-GEIGY's headquarters head-quarters are located in New Jersey, its sales representative, Dave Smith, is based in Kaysville. His corporation corpora-tion became involved with the tournament tour-nament five years ago when it began. Smith's team has won the open two years running. "Participation in the open has grown, said Smith. "Every year it gets bigger and bigger, hopefully, it will continue that way. ' ' I ' y ,? , it A "I don't know if we'll win again this year,' added Smith. "There's a lot of competition. The women's health open will be held at The Homestead in Midway and is part of the University of Utah Open golf tournament. The tournament is a scramble format in which all four team members can align their balls with . the best shot off the tee. Prizes and trophies will be . awarded for the lowest team score, closest to the pin and longest drive. The grand prize for the closest to the pin will be a round-trip airplane ticket for two anywhere in the continental con-tinental United States, donated by American Airlines. There is also a competitive division divi-sion for experienced golfers. The $100 entry fee for the tournament tour-nament includes a morning seminar on women's health issues given by Dr. Kirtly P. Jones, assistant professor pro-fessor of obstetrics and gynecology and Dr. William R. Keye, director of reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich. They will address topics such as in vitro fertilization, laser surgery, premenstrual syndrome and menopause. 4 The entry fee also includes green fees, cart, a luncheon and pre-game golf clinic hosted by Bruce Sum- merhays, head professional at Thd Homestead Golf Club, and an evening even-ing awards banquet featuring an auction. Proceeds from the tournament will be used for research in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Utah Medical Center. The department depart-ment provides a wide range of clinical care, including prenatal care, delivery, complicated and high-risk pregnancies, infertility and family planning. The South Davis Bobby Sox Allstars took first place in the 1 990 Utah State Tournament. The team will now represent Utah at the National Bobby Sox Tournament Aug. 16-21.
