Show m Box Elder editor dies of cancer L Bruce T. Keyes, 60, longtime editor of the Box Elder News Journal in Brigham City, died recently of cancer in a Logan hospital. ! Keyes was an award-winning columnist, newswriter, sportswriter and photographer. He had been employed at the Box Elder newspaper since 1957, the same year he graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor's bache-lor's degree in journalism. In January this year he received the Total Citizen Award given annually by the Brigham City Chamber of I Commerce. He had served as president of the Chamber r of Commerce, a director with the Kiwanis and as a member of the Brigham City Jaycees. He was a graduate of Box Elder High School and Weber Junior College and served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict prior to attending the University of Utah. An active member of the LDS church, he was serving serv-ing as high priest group leader in the Brigham City 23rd Ward at the time of his death. He was born on Nov, 12, 1931, in Ogden, a son of Theo James and LaVern Reeves Keyes. |
