Show Voters to choose v from 31 hopefuls By GARY R. BLODGETT There may not be many major issues in dispute, but there will be a full slate of candidates for most communities in next Tuesday's General Gen-eral Municipal Election. Polls will be Open Tuesday from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Also of interest to Municipal Election voters will be a referendum on the ballot asking support for the 1998 Winter Olympics to be staged in Utah. With incumbent mayor Dean S. Stahle out of the race, Bountiful mayoral race will be between former city councilman Bob Linnell and newcomer George Burbidge. Bountiful historian Leslie T. Foy will lead a group of four new candidates in the race for city council. Two candidates will be elected - to 4-year seats from among Foy, Renec J. Coon, Roger W. Winslow and Arnell Heaps. ' - In North Salt Lake, incumbent D.W. (Jake) Simmons ,wijl run unopposed for mayor for another 4-year term. Two council candidates can-didates will be elected from among Nathan Clark, Carlin W. Jacob-son, Jacob-son, Kenneth R. Millard and Leland K. Twitchell. West Bountiful voters will go to the polls to cast ballots for three mayor and four council candidates - with the mayor also serving as a part-time city administrator. (See separate story.) Mayor candidates are incumbent councilman Bruce A, Talbot and newcomers Carl M. Johnson and Keith D. Salmon. Council nominees nomi-nees are Craig F. Hammond, Ronald J. Morse, Tom Ramage and R. Paul Toller. Incumbent councilman David H. Wright is running unopposed for mayor of Woods Cross. Two councilmen will be elected from among ' the following six candidates: Bruce W. Borrowman, James L. (Mike) Clarke Neal F. Hewlett, Glen G. Jenkins, Russell S. Mitchell and Donald D. Moore Jr. Only Jenkins is an incumbent. Incumbent councilman R. Michael Kjar will be unopposed for mayor of Centerville, succeeding Dean Argyle, who is not seeking re-election. Two council members will be elected from among three candidates, incumbent Kent M. Lindsey, Robert L. Grange and ; Steven M. Mangel. In Farmington, incumbent Robert W. Arbuckle will seek reelection re-election for mayor against incumbent councilman Don White. Com-peting Com-peting for the two 4-year council seats are Gregory Bell, Ranae 1 Bentley, Larry W.Haugen and L. Hank Semadcni. VIn Kaysville, Brit Howard and Beck K. Sheffield will vie for the 4 . mayor's seat for the next four years . There will be two candidates from a list of four to be elected to two 4-year terms of Kaysville City Council, and one of two can-1 , didates will be elected for 2-year terms on the council. Candidates for 4-year seats are Reed L. Adams, Margaret Brough, - , -Joe Hill and Craig L. Taylor.
