Show 'My Turn On Earth' plays June 17-20 at WX High "My Turn on Earth," a delightful musical play for the whole family, is playing at Woods Cross High School June 17, 18 and 20. These are the only Utah performances scheduled this year: Proceeds will be used for youth programs for the Orchard 9th Ward in North Salt Lake. The five-actor play tells the story of pre-earth life and coming to earth in mortality. The play, by Carol Lynn Pearson, combines com-bines different theatrical devices to tell the story in a way that appeals to both children and adults. From a song that celebrates living in heaven to the lonely rigors of earth life, there's something some-thing for everybody in all the different facets of living; The main character, Barbara, in the pre-existence prepares to come to earth by studying what earth is going to be like. Once on earth, the trials and difficulties she encounters cause her, at times, to become discouraged and frustrated. But through the notes that drop occasionally from heaven back down to the earth on stage, she is encouraged and guided to meet her challenges chal-lenges and overcome them. By the play's end, she's found the treasure that she was sent to earth to find and she continues on her progress by leaving this earth and taking the next step in eternity. The music is by best-selling LDS composer Lex de Azevedo who is also the composer of "Saturday's Warrior." Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for children and are available at Orchard Drug in North Salt Lake, Carr Stationery and Charles Gordon Clothier in Bountiful and Gaines Family Music in Centerville. Tickets will also be available on Saturday at both Bountiful Winegar's locations. For more information call Kent Smith at 487-3221. |
